High School Life Part 8:Apology

A week later, Kate is still not talking to Rick.

He tried everything... Direct talking, joking, 'accidentally' bumping into her, even bribery. But nothing seems to work. After the party, he's been ignoring Gina completely, focusing only on getting Kate to talk to him again.

And he has a new plan.

It's early Friday morning, and Kate was just arranging her things in her locker. Lanie saw her and approached her.

"Hey girl" she greeted her cheerfully.

"Hey Lanie, where's Javi? You usually have your lips locked at this hour" she teased.

Lanie rolled her eyes "Okay, first...you're just jealous because you don't get to lock lips with Rick" Kate rolled her eyes "Second, I just want to spend time with my girl. Is that so wrong?" she questioned.

"Of course not. But there's usually a catch. What is it?" she asked.

"I don't want anything" she paused "Okay, fine. I want you to come shopping with me tomorrow" she finally said.

"Shopping for what?" she questioned.

"Do I need a reason?" she asked her back.

"Good point, but you already filled up my closet the last time we went" she said.

"Please, Kate..." she begged.

She sighed "Alright, fine" she agreed.

Lanie cheered happily, then after spotting Javier down the hallway, she waved goodbye at her and went to him. Kate just shook her head, but smiled a little at her best friend's behavior.

The final bell rang and the halls we're flooded with students within seconds.

Kate went to keep her books in her locker.

She closed her locker.

"Kate!" a voice said out of nowhere, scaring her and causing her to strike, accidentally punching Josh in the face.

He staggered back and she gasped in surprise.

"Oh my god, are you okay?" she asked.

"Yeah...yeah..." he wiped his lip to check if it was bleeding "That was painful. You're really strong" he said.

"I'm so sorry. I should've warned you not to scare me" she said with an apologetic look.

"That's okay" he said as he regained his composure.

"Anyway, what are you doing here? I thought you left" she asked.

"Oh, I was just gonna ask if you wanna go out this Saturday" he said.

"Sorry, I can't. I promised Lanie I'll go shopping with her this Saturday" she said.

"You could reschedule" he suggested.

"Excuse me?"

"I mean...it's the least you could do, you did punch me. And I am your boyfriend"

"She's my best friend"

"So? She'll understand"

She couldn't believe what she was hearing "I can't believe I never noticed how selfish you are. You know what, you should go ask another girl to go out with you" she said the angrily walked away.

He grabbed her wrist "Kate, you can't be serious" he said.

"Well I am, Josh. We're through" she said, pulling her hand away then walked off.
