Ever woke up to arguing and it was really loud, "Can you and Drake not fight so loud and right in my ear," she groaned. She rubbed her eyes sleepily and rolled over, falling off the couch. She yelped, catching herself with her hands and looked at her surroundings. She saw a living room instead of her dorm room and she got up, only to hit her head on the glass coffee table. "Damn it all..." she groaned.
Chad came running after he heard the commotion and stared at her worried, "You alright? I heard a yelp, a thud and a crash," he asked. He wore dark blue faded jeans, maroon converse and a nice short sleeved button down shirt; his hair was tossed back nicely with some gel and he had dark, large framed glasses on his face.
Ever looked at him shocked and confused. Had she really just stayed the night at some guys dorm from another school? "I'm fine, but I fell asleep here? Why didn't you wake me to take me back to my dorm?" she asked curiously.
Chad sighed, but before he said a word to explain himself, Ithan came in the room ready for his exam. "I'm ready when you are, roomie," he said, trying to hide the fact that he had a huge hangover.
"I'll meet you there, Ithan. I have to explain some things to Ever before I leave," Chad mentioned and Ithan gave an obnoxious sigh. "Just go!"
"Fine, but I'm not saving you a spot. If you're late, it's your fault!"
Ever let out a small laugh as she got up to sit back on the couch. She looked to Chad and waited patiently for an explanation. Chad sat down across from her and folded his hands in his lap, "I didn't want to wake you. You looked so peaceful and relaxed...I could tell you needed it from what we had talked about last night before you fell asleep."
"Oh...well thank you, Chad. I should probably get back to my dorm and school. I have class in a few hours and it takes me about an hour to get there from here if I walk," Ever said as she avoided eye contact. She felt weird about staying at a random guys dorm, but she felt safe around Chad. Even if they had just met, she felt like she could trust him.
"Let me drive you, Ever. My professor won't care if I'm late to the exam. I'm passing the class with an A+. I'm sure he'll let me take it with another class today," Chad explained, as he grabbed his things.
She was hesitant but gave in and agreed; she would let him drive her back to school, "Sure..." Ever said softly and looked down at her feet. She was nervous about going back. She wasn't sure if her roommate would be there or not. She really didn't want to see her or David, but she really didn't have a choice because of classes.
Chad could see that she was hesitant, but he held his hand out kindly and smiled softly, "Don't worry, Ever. If you ever need me, just text me at this number," he reassured and wrote his number down, yet again, in a small, pocket sized notebook for her to keep. "Don't lose it this time, okay?"
Ever looked up, not moving her head from where it sat and took the notebook from his hand, replacing it with her hand as she stood up, "Thank you..." she said softly and put the notebook in her back pocket along with her phone. She waited for Chad to lead the way out and her stomach churned uneasily.
