"The elevator took a while," Ever answered shyly. "Can we eat now? I'm starving." Her heart raced so much, she hoped food would get her mind off of how much Chad made her heart flutter and stomach churn with butterflies. She felt Chad wrap his arm around her shoulders and it made her butterflies grow even more. Her gaze went to the floor as she chewed the inside of her cheek.

Ithan smirked and let the two inside. Ever quickly ran into the restroom to calm her nerves down, or at least try to. 'Oh my gosh! Chad is so cute! He is making this 'taking it slow' thing really hard. Gah!' Ever thought to herself as she sat on the toilet that was closed. She ran her hand through her hair as her mind raced. 'What if we are taking this whole thing too slow? No, we aren't...are we?' Questions continued to form in her mind and she heard a knock on the door. "I'll be out in a second!"

"It's alright, just wanted to make sure you were okay in there," it was Ithan. "Hoping you weren't having another anxiety attack."

"Oh...yeah I'm alright. I'll be out there in a second. Just finishing up," Ever replied. She put all the questions to the back of her mind for the time being and went to have a good, relaxing time with her friends. She went into the kitchen to grab a plate and some pizza, but she glanced up to see Chad have two plates already.

"I thought I'd make you a plate," he smiled shyly and pat the seat next to him. Ithan was in the recliner and Ever could tell he wasn't about to move. She pushed her hair back behind her left ear and sat next to Chad as the movie began. They were all silent and when Ever finished her pizza, she set her plate down and really wanted to snuggle with Chad. She didn't want to make the wrong move, so she stayed where she was and waited to see if he would make the first move. He did.

Chad had pulled her over, gently, and laid down on his back on the couch. Ever followed and laid between his legs with her back down to be more comfortable. It was like their bodies fit perfectly together. Ever's heart raced and she could feel Chad's heart pick up speed too. Chills went down her spine as she watched the movie. It was as if Jayden and Ericka were her and Chad, at least that's how she saw it. Maybe not the whole werewolf thing, but the romance part sure. "Are you chilly, Ev?" Chad asked softly into her ear. "You're shaking a lot."

"Y--yeah...can you grab the blanket that's behind you?" Ever asked shyly and rested her head on his chest. She glanced over to Ithan who was too into the movie to pay any attention to her or Chad. She sighed in relief and when she got the blanket, she wrapped it around the two of them for warmth and cuddles. Ever couldn't help but smile as the movie went on.

The movie was about an hour in and Ever was already dozing off. She glanced over to Ithan and he was sleeping. She could feel Chad's breathing get heavier and she knew both boys were asleep. She took her phone out from under the covers slowly and texted an old friend of hers from high school. She needed someone to gossip and freak out to. 'Hey. How are you, Andrea?'

Seconds later, her phone buzzed, 'Hey stranger! How's school treating you over at Adamsdale?'

'Well...I have some big news for you...I dropped out...'

'You WHAT?! E, you can't drop out of school after only a month and a half!'

'A, let me explain! Jerkface stood me up...again...but I met this nice guy named Chad at the restaurant I had suggested. We talked and I left after he bought me my dinner. After that, I went to the park to wait for Siira, but turns out...she hooked up with jerkface and is now fuck buddies with him! My own roommate! Anyway...Chad and I went to Adamsdale the next morning, since I couldn't and didn't want to go back the night before (he took me in his dorm and took care of me emotionally, since I was an emotional wreck) and I was expecting to go to class. Instead, I was stopped by Siira and Drake. Apparently, there was a rumor going around that I was only at Adamsdale for the guys...but we both know I am not interested in that until marriage, or at least until I find the right guy.' Ever sent. She felt bad it was so long, but she was explaining everything to her best friend and knowing Andrea as well as Ever did, she wanted every little detail.

Tears started to form in her eyes, just from thinking of it all. It's not like she wanted to linger on the past, but her heart was still in pieces. She silently cried, her body shaking as she did so. Chad slowly woke up from the crying and wrapped his arms around Ever from behind, "I am here now, my shining star," he whispered into her ear. "I am here to protect you from the heartache. The moon protects his star."

Ever just stayed there, not moving and continued to cry. She felt her phone buzz twice, one she knew was from Andrea, but the second she wasn't sure who it was from. She didn't bother to check them until the morning. Ever squeezed Chad's arms tightly into her, needing a tighter hug. He gladly did so and put his lips onto her cheek gently. "Why do I keep lingering, Chad?" she finally spoke up.

"Because you have loved him for a long time. We all have our first love, and it hurts when they don't want to love you back. Our hearts break easily from broken love. We have friends and family to heal that, but it will never be fully healed until you find someone new, who finally heals your broken heart. The cracks that stay are so that someone else can get inside and fix it," he explained. "You are that for me, Ever."

Ever turned around and looked at him, in complete shock, "I--I healed your heart?" Chad just nodded with a smile. Her cheeks flushed and her gaze went to the blanket. "I--I think you may have healed mine, but...I don't know..." she replied unsure.

Chad let out a small chuckle and lifted her chin up with his pointer finger, so they could be eye to eye, "It's okay if I didn't yet. Even if it takes forever to heal it, I will be there, by your side to make sure it heals correctly," he told her and finally, after a month of butterflies for the both of them, planting a kiss on her lips.
