Chapter Seven

Ever's heart sped up to a million beats a minute and her butterflies went crazy in her stomach. She felt her whole face become hot and she could tell it was as red as a tomato. She wanted to push him off, but didn't. She knew he was the one, the right one. The one she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. She finally pulled away after a few minutes and she avoided eye contact.

Chad blinked a few times and looked at Ever concerned and ashamed, "I am so sorry, Ever. I--I didn't mean to kiss you when you were vulnerable. Something just came over me...." he told her.

Ever shook her head frantically, "N--no! It's fine, really!" her voice was a little louder than she expected. The two froze and looked over to Ithan stiffly. Ithan stirred in his sleep, but never woke. Ever sighed and felt her phone vibrate out of control. She ignored it and looked down at her lap, nervous, "Chad, it really is alright. I--I mean we've known each other for a few months, almost a full semester even!"

Chad nodded and smiled softly, wrapping his arms around Ever, "You are correct, Ev. I'm just not sure I want to rush into things...I just don't want you getting hurt by Kimberly. She can be jealous and vicious." His chin rested on Ever's head as he sighed.

Ever froze as Chad wrapped his arms around her. They were so close. Her heart never stopped racing, her whole body had goosebumps and she put her arms right on top of his with a smile, "I won't let Kim get the best of me. I have dealt with others just like her, jealous and mean. Everyone has always been jealous over my mind and it's gotten worse over the last year or so. I have learned to ignore them and not let the teasing get to me."

Chad smiled, "With your brains it's a different kind of teasing. When it comes to relationships, it's even worse. Kelly will not stop until she gets me back, Ever. Trust me on that one. She will do whatever it takes, and that means physically hurting you. I don't think I could ever forgive myself if you got hurt." his voice broke and Ever squeezed his arms.

"Chad, if that happens, I'll run. Or I'll try and fight back. It won't go very well, but I would at least try."

"Ev, if she comes after you, find Preston Simmons. He is a friend of mine from high school who happens to be a football player for this college. He is huge and Kimberly has had the hots for him since she set eyes on him. He may hate her, but he loves to protect the little guy, always has."

"Um...okay. Thanks, Chad."

He nodded and bent down to kiss her on the cheek gently, "I think I'm going to head to bed, unless you want me to snuggle you some more and fall asleep out here...with you."

"Um...sure. I love snuggles," Ever replied softly, picking up her phone to see the messages she had missed. She noticed one was from an unknown number, but the other was from Andrea. She quickly read and replied to her bestie before reading the other text. Her brows raised as she read it silently to herself, 'You're mine, slut. He is just using you to get me back. Trust me, he is mine and always will be.'
