You found Peter in the hospital's waiting room. He was a mess, tears were running down his face and he looked exhausted. He was pacing around the small space. "How is she?" You asked walking over to him, worried.

"She isn't doing much better." Peter said, wiping away a tear. "They wont let me see her yet." He said sitting down.

"Hey, she's gonna be fine, ok? She'll be ok."

Peter nodded his head and stopped crying. "I'm sorry." he said running his hands through his hair. "I..shouldn't be so weak."

"Peter." You started, "It's ok to cry, alright? That doesn't make you weak."

"Heroes aren't supposed to cry." He said  wiping his eyes.

"Heroes are only human."

A doctor walked onto the room at that moment, just like in the movies a serious yet sorry expression painted on their face and holding a clip board with papers. The doctor walked to you and Peter informing you that you could go see May. Her room was quiet except for the beeping coming  from the machines that were attached to tubes that tangled all over May. She was in a coma, they said she was ok her body was just healing itself before she could wake up but her eyebrows were furrowed like she was having a nightmare. They say that people are aware of everything while they are trapped in a coma, maybe that's why she had her expression that way, because with her in a coma she probably thought Peter would be alone.

"Hey May." Peter said softly. He took a few seconds before continuing. "May. I'm so so sorry, I should have protected you, I should have been there. I j-just wish we could trade. places." You and Peter sat down in chairs, pulling them next to May's side. It was quiet for a few seconds, you just watched poor Peter while he blamed himself for what had happened.

"Peter..it's not your fault." You whispered to him, trying to take away his guilt.

"I promise I'll protect you May." Peter said to May.

You and Peter stayed at the hospital for about three more hours and still nobody at avengers headquarters seemed to notice your absence.

You and Peter were walking out of the hospital in silence. "Are you hungry?" You asked Peter, he just shrugged. "You should eat something." Again he shrugged. "Let's go get larb." You suggested.

"y/n I'm not really hung-"

"Shut up you're eating." You said pulling him along by the sleeve.

You and Peter sat eating larb in a booth. Of course nobody was there except for you two though because it was almost six in the morning. Eventually the cashier even left to go into the kitchen leaving you two and whatever song was playing in the small restaurant. "Whenever May and I come here she makes puns about larb." Peter said.

"Well...you know she does really..larb puns." You told him, earning a smile but you questioned whether Peter actually smiled or not because it disappeared so fast.

"Thanks y/n." Peter said softly.

"For what?" You asked before putting food into your mouth.

"For coming to the hospital, you didn't have to."

"of course."

"It's just..I didn't wanna be alone. I probably shouldn't have called you so late but..."

"But what?" You asked.

"But I just feel so..so scared. What if she doesn't get better? After everything she's been through..what if she doesn't wanna stay? I don't want to lose her. I feel so powerless, I can't do anything about it and I wasn't even there when it happened, I should have been there, instead I sneaked out. I became spiderman so I could protect people, but I couldn't even protect her." He told you. You could tell he was going to get emotional again so you switched sides from the booth and slid next to him, you wrapped your arms around his neck and he cried as you held him. His tears got your hair and shirt wet but you didn't care, you had to be here for him. Had to protect him. That voice came again in your head, the voice that interrupted your every thought and the vision that sent goosebumps on your arms"Because, soon he's gonna need you more than anyone else and if you aren't there for him bad things will happen."
