I am so sorry for not updating in forever, I've been so brain dead over these past couple of weeks with all these tests and finals coming up next month, I hope you understand. Anyway thank you for being so patient and I hope you enjoy this chapter :-) have a great day!
Two weeks.
It had been two weeks since you last saw Peter smile.
Everything that was going on was crushing him, and everyone knew it. But no one knew how to help, especially when they were concentrating on defeating Thanos. On the days that there was school he'd skip and lock himself in his room, it was the same every other day, when he wasn't with May. He wouldn't even come out to eat, Tony would have to bring him his food everyday and talk him into eating. Sometimes if you listened close enough you'd hear his silent crying in the middle of the knight, sometimes you'd hear him scream after a dream but other times you didn't hear anything.
Maybe he wouldn't get hurt fighting Thanos. Maybe his misery would have already killed him.
You've tried talking to him so many times. You've knocked on his door but he never answered, you'd call out his name but he wouldn't respond. You'd waited up to three hours outside of his room some days, hoping that he'd open up, hoping that he'd talk. But he never did. You were losing this boy, the boy that you loved, the boy that was once so happy. You were beginning to lose hope.
Your alarm blared in your ear, signaling that school would start in an hour. When you had finished stumbling out of bed and throwing on a dress you made your way to the kitchen slower than a sloth climbing a tree. There you ate an apple for breakfast and finished up some biology homework. Then you were on your way.
"So...Peter isn't doing too good?" Ned asked you sadly, already knowing the answer.
"He hasn't been doing good for days, I just don't know what to do." You responded with the same tone.
"I know!" Ned exclaimed excitedly. "You have to confess your feelings for him! That's how it works in the movies."
"If only it was that simple."
"But it is." Ned whined. "If there's one thing that I've learned through movies, it's that you have to be there for people you care about and that you need to let them know they're important."
"Well how am I supposed to do that?" You asked him. "Hey Peter, your aunt is in a coma, and the world is about to be demolished by an evil dried up hairless grape, why don't we get married?" You said sarcastically.
"I think you mean raisin. But other than that yeah." Ned then took out his phone after it started ringing, it was his mom. After about two minutes Ned hung up disappointed. "I can't walk you home today, sorry. My mom wants me home right now. Bye and uh..confess to Peter."
After he had left you continued to walk until you got to the train. Through the whole ride you couldn't think of anything but Peter. When you got home it was the same. Even when you were in bed trying to fall asleep, the only thing running through your head was Peter Peter Peter Peter. Finally you gave up on trying to sleep and decided to stare at the ceiling fan for twenty minutes, thinking about everything, including what Ned had said. Finally you couldn't take it anymore and decided to try to talk to Peter again. Before you got up you remembered how Peter used to sneak into your room at night, just to have a conversation about star wars or science puns. Eventually your dad had found out and locked your windows to prevent you from being with Peter alone, he was protective.
You now stood in front of Peter's door, and for a few seconds you had forgotten how to knock. Cautiously you raised your palm and gently knocked on the door. No answer. So you knocked again, still no answer.
"Peter?" You called out. "I know you're in there, Ned's been asking where you've been." (I swear I'm not trying to copy frozen) "You have to be strong, and you're trying to, but you can't hide in there alone forever. Please, let me in." But it felt as if you were talking to yourself because there was no response. "Please?" You asked once more. You felt tears welling up as you continued. "Peter, please. I miss you. And I want to help, But I can't do that if you won't let me." Silence. "Peter please..I lo-" Before you were able to finish your sentence the door opened slowly revealing your best friend. Tears were rolling down your face silently and it looked like he'd been crying for hours. Slowly you went reaching out to his face, drying some of his tears. He wrapped his arms around you, seeking comfort. Nobody said anything, you just held him and stroked his hair as he cried into your shoulder. And that's how it went every night. Every night until chaos broke out into the streets of New York.
