Camila's POV- March 2017

I knew the second Chris walked out of team manager's office that he had not received good news. Once I exited Dodger Stadium, he broke down. It honestly sucked because he had a great Spring Training, and he did everything his team manager told him to do during the offseason. I'm pretty sure I did not try to hide my glare because the man avoided eye contact with me as he handed Chris a plane ticket. That pissed me off even more because he could have done that inside the office, not in the hallway where the guys who had made the team were celebrating. As much as I loved the sport, I hated the business side of it. You bet your ass that we made love all night. His flight didn't leave until night time anyways, so he had all afternoon to sleep.

"Hey" I softly said as I gently scratched his beard.

He slowly opened his eyes and hummed.

"Good afternoon" I greeted before pecking his lips.

"What time is it?"

His voice was incredibly raspy at the moment.

"It's a bit past noon" I replied.

He slowly nodded and adjusted the blanket around his waist.

"Can we just lay in bed all day?"

"I figured you'd say that, which is why I brought you breakfast in bed" I informed him.

He smiled as I leaned down and pecked his lips.

"You're the best, what did I do to deserve you?"

"You were a total gentleman" I answered.

I kissed his cheek and climbed off the bed. As I went grabbed the tray with food from my vanity table, he sat up.

"Thanks, babe. You're going to help me with this though, right?"

"Yes, I am" I replied as I placed the tray on his lap.

I grabbed the two water bottles and climbed back on the bed.

"I was looking at flights" I brought up.

"You were?"

I nodded and took a seat across from him.

"Yeah, I can't exactly make it to the game on Thursday but I can make it to Saturday and Sunday's games" I said.

He slowly nodded.

"I can't be there longer" I began saying.

"It means a lot especially since you're really busy with work right now"

He reached over and squeezed my knee.

"Thank you though"

He smiled before looking down at the stuffed french toast.

"Besides missing you, I'm going to miss your cooking. You spoiled me during the offseason"

I squeezed his knee and began to cut up my french toast.

"Thank you"

"For?" I asked.

"Distracting me last night"

I nodded.

"I'm not just talking about making love,  I'm talking about you letting me sulk but also assuring me that the call-up will happen"

"Things happen for a reason" I repeated what I told him last night.

He took a deep breath and nodded.

"It just sucks. After everything that I did, it just feels like I failed"

"You did not fail" I stated.

"It feels like it"

I shook my head.

"You're going to Oklahoma City, but while you're there make sure the Dodgers realize how much you can do for that team. You've worked your ass off, and now it's time to show it.  I have no doubt that you will be called up soon, and it pisses me off that Dave Roberts did not see that" I said.

He smiled.

"You intimidate him you know"

"Really?" I asked.

When he nodded, I smiled.

"Good" I answered.

I was a person who couldn't really hold grudges, so that was saying a lot.

"It's why it seems like he avoids you"

"He avoids me, I am not assuming," I said.

He chuckled.

"That glare you gave him last night babe"

"I don't like him" I informed him.

"Oh I know that"

It didn't matter that Dave Roberts was a total babe during his time with the Dodgers.

"Are your parents coming over?"

I nodded.

"Yeah, mom wants to make you dinner" I replied.

"How nice of her"

I smiled.

"She promises that Issac will be well behaved," I told him.

"He's been nicer to me"

As much as Issac did not like the idea of Chris dating me, he actually missed him.

"Did you see that hug last night?"

My parents were at last night's game, and they too were pretty bummed about Chris not playing.  The hug Chris was referring to, was the hug he received from Isaac. My little brother gave no explanation as to why he hugged Chris.

"He's warming up to you" I answered.

He nodded.

"So your parents aren't coming until much later?"

"Yes" I confirmed.

He grinned.

"Ok, good cause I don't want to put on clothes"

A/N: Sorry I have not been updating as frequently. I've experienced some writer's block with this story :(. My plan is to finish off this story before the semester starts up again, and post every other day so there will probably be no update on this story for the next 10 days or so. I gotta say, my first semester (Undergrad was on the quarter system so it is still a bit weird) of Grad School went pretty well. I'm currently waiting for a grade to be posted, but at the moment I have a 4.0 :D
