Eight months later....
Camila's POV- March 2015

The second Chris got hit by the pitch in his wrist I knew something was wrong. He played it off and stayed in the game. After the game, he kept fidgeting during dinner. Even James pointed it out, but he waved it off saying it was normal for it to hurt. At around 3 AM, James got a call from Chris who was freaking out because his hand had swelled up. It was now 11 AM of the next day, and Chris was being prepped for surgery.

"Fiance's first"

I rolled my eyes and shoved a grinning James before walking into the room. Because we weren't family, the doctors (by law) were unable to give us any information about Chris. Thankfully, I had a diamond ring that I switched from my right hand to my left hand.

"Hey" I greeted.

I frowned a bit when I saw how bloodshot Chris' eyes were.

"Have the meds not kicked in yet?" I wondered.

"I can't catch a break"

He sighed and let out a shaky breath.

"Last year it was my pinky, now it's my wrist"

Before I could say anything, James spoke up.

"At least it's not your spine"

Chris groaned.

"Let me sulk"

"Of course not," I told him.

That was when he looked at both of us.

"How exactly did you two get in?"

I wasn't even looking at James but I could already sense that there was a giant grin plastered on his face.

"Uh, we might have told the nurse that Cami was your fiance"

Chris looked at me and his eyes darted to my hand. Just as he nodded, there was a knock on the door. The door slowly opened and in walked a petite nurse. She smiled at Chris and made her way over.

"How's your hand feeling?"

She began to check his vitals.

"I don't feel my heartbeat on it anymore"

She offered him one last smile before looking at me.

"Well I have to go prep him for surgery"

I nodded.

"I can leave if you want some privacy"

James snickered behind me, and I smiled.

"No it's ok," I said.

I leaned over Chris and kissed his cheek.

"We will be here when you wake up" I told him.

It was mean of me to do.

"Oh honey, give him kiss. I don't mind"

I bit the inside of my cheek and nodded. The thing is, I knew about Chris' crush on me and I chose to pretend it didn't exist. Yes it was mean of me, but I was busy with my career.

"Don't you dare die" I said.

Chris laughed and nodded.

"I'll try not to"

I smiled at him and leaned in. The light scruff tickled my face as both our lips met. When I pulled away, Chris looked at me with the most lovestruck look.

"I'll see you in a bit" I stated.

He slowly nodded as I stepped back. James put his arm around my shoulder as they wheeled Chris away. Once it was just us two in the room, I looked at him and punched him in the arm.

"What was that for!"

"You know he has feelings for me! Why did you not prevent me from kissing him!" I hissed at him.

James frowned.

"Oh please Cami, you like him too"

I huffed and left the room.

"What is so bad about him that you won't accept it?"

I turned around to look at him.

"He's your best friend, what if things don't work out?" I questioned.

He snorted.

"I doubt that would happen"

I frowned at him.

"If there is one person I trust with my sister...it's Chris"

He shrugged as I stared at him with wide eyes.

"I understand that you chose to put school first. For the past 6 years, school has been your focus. You're my sister, I want you to be happy. Don't you think it's to let a guy into your life?"

Both my parents had talked to me about this. They were happy that I was succeeding my career, but at the end of the day, I needed a partner, someone to share my accomplishments with.

"Ok" I said.

James looked at me with wide eyes.

"Wait, what?"

"I like Chris" I admitted.

This was the first time I had said that out loud.

A/N: Looks like she does have feelings for Chris.
