Five years later.

Chris' POV- July 2014

I knew my parents were not going to make it to my MLB debut. Even though they were on the other side of the country, I still called them first. Mom cried, dad cried and then I cried. Both my parents suggested I call James, my best friend and tell him to get on the first flight to Seattle. Mom jokingly suggested I invite his sister. Why? Apparently, anyone with eyes can tell I was head over heels in love with Camila, my best friend's sister.
I'm pretty sure I fell for Camila the second I met her. James was my best friend but I also formed a nice friendship with Camila. The summer I got drafted, I spent 2 weeks in Los Angeles. During those 2 weeks, I spent every single morning with Camila. James was interning at a hospital so it was Camila who showed me around.

Anyways I tried to get a hold of James, but he wasn't answering his phone. After the 5th try, I chose to call Cam. She answered, and by the looks of it...I had woken her up. I began apologizing but she shut me up and told me to get straight to the point. So I did as told, and then heard her scream with joy when I told her the good news. I then told her that my parents were not going to make it to the game. It was then that I invited her... and James. She said yes, and told me that she'd pack up for James as well. Now here I was at the airport waiting for James and Camila. They were quick to find because the second I walked into the terminal I heard,

"CHRISTOPHER!"

I was then trampled into a hug.

"It's nice to see you too Cam" I greeted.

She then proceeded to kiss both my cheeks before giving me one last squeeze.

"I got to say, I love the beard"

I was honestly pretty thankful for the beard at the moment because it was the only thing preventing her from seeing how flushed my cheeks were. I'm sure my smile gave it away though.

"Cami, I want to greet him too"

She gently patted my shoulders.

"Chris set me down"

I did as told and smiled at James who pulled me into a hug.

"It's nice to see you man"

He patted my back.

"Nice to see you too," I said.

I looked at Camila when she cleared her throat.

"Both of you" I corrected.

I turned to James.

"You're not missing class, right?" I questioned.

He was in Med School. One miss, and would be way behind.

"Chris, the semester hasn't started but I actually do have something to do for school tomorrow"

I nodded and looked at Camila.

"Would you mind if I stayed with you for the weekend? My little actually lives here in Seattle, and she wants to see me"

Yup, Cami used to be (now considered an alumni) in a sorority. She rushed her Freshmen year and was an active member (even President!) until her graduation last May.

"You know I don't mind," I told her.

James scrunched up his nose a bit and cleared his throat when Camila elbowed him.

"Thank you!"

She smiled.

"I'm starving"

"I don't have to be at the Stadium for another 2 hours. Let's go eat, it's on me" I said.

"If you insist"

I ended up taking them to eat clam chowder because they both wanted to try the local foods. As we finished up eating, James excused himself to the bathroom.

"By the way, before I forget. How was your first year of Grad School?" I asked her.

Last spring, Camila had earned her Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering from Stanford University. She graduated Summa Cum Laude which according to google is the highest honors.

"A bit stressful, but it will all be worth it at the end"

She was enrolled in the Masters Program in Civil Engineering at USC.

"Thanks for coming," I said.

She smiled.

"You've worked your butt for this day to come. I'm happy that I'll be a part of the beginning of what I hope is a long journey"

It meant a lot that she was here. Yes, I had feelings for her but I was thankful to just have her in my life. If she was happy then so was I. That game, I got my first MLB hit. I'm also pretty sure I heard both James and Camila scream when I got on base. There was no way a girl like her was going to fall for a guy like me.
