Heidi Montgomery crossed the narrow street of Sun Avenue on her Louboutin heels. She was going to visit her best friend, Sady Matthews.

The city of Stonecrest Lake was much calmer, now that the summer crowds have left. September was still a warm month, but the autumn was pointing its nose and soon, the cold and icy winter was to come, making the city gloomy and depressing. As she approached the skyscraper building, her thoughts became a confused blur. She had no desire to cross Thunder's way.

Heidi bitterly closed her eyes at the remembrance of her ex-lover. Thunder was Sady's half-brother from his first marriage to a French woman. Thunder was the issue of it, though the marriage lasted only few years. She had never seen him before, nor heard of him, as Sady had never mentioned his existence. Following the death of his mother, Thunder Matthews had to move to the Black Sapphire hotel; they were as wealthy and pampered as Sady and her father. Thunder was, at that time, nineteen, and Heidi was fifteen. She immediately fell under his charms; she was madly in love in a few months. Thunder had his ways in making all the girls feel special and unique. Heidi never thought that these sweet and delicious words he used to say to her were repeated to several girls. Her disappointment was cruel when she surprised him making love to a brunette in his suite. She immediately walked out and refused to listen; she wasn't going to be fooled by his words anymore. And that was it. Their story ended just like that and they were back to square 0.

Since then, she avoided seeing him when she visited Sady, she managed well that their paths never cross. And she succeeded since he often was off to college.

Finally at the hotel, the butler opened the door with a welcoming smile.

"Hello, Miss Montgomery."

"Hello, Mr. Gibbons."

She crossed the hall and entered the elevator and pressed the button 68. "Hold the elevator please!", a voice alerted.

Heidi obeyed, and prevented the door from closing, and, to her great misfortune, Thunder entered the elevator. Intense astonishment was painted on his face, his beautiful face thought Heidi. He ran his hand through his hair. Well, isn't that lovely?, thought the young lady. He only does that when he's nervous. The idea was consoling and she felt powerful knowing that he was as nervous as her. A smirk appeared on her full lips as she stealthily stepped back and leaned against the wall.

"Hello, Miss Montgomery.", said Thunder courteously.

Heidi almost laughed when she heard that. Miraculously, she wasn't Heidi anymore, beautiful and fabulous Heidi, no. She was now Miss Montgomery. She smirked and turned to face him.

"Hello, Mr. Matthews.", she said, emphasizing her words.

Thunder Matthews smiled, understanding the message. Heidi looked straight ahead, deliberately ignoring her ex-lover. Thunder ran his hand through his brown blond hair, again.

"You know, Heidi", he began only to stop, lost in his thoughts. "Just because we're not together anymore doesn't mean we should act like enemies.", he resumed after seconds of dead silence.

Heidi couldn't believe him. Was he serious? "How so?" she replied, turning her pretty blonde head towards him.

His sturdy body was muscular and fit and the white shirt he was wearing perfectly hugged his upper body. His blue eyes were sparkling and intense, contrasting with the light color of his shirt. There he was, standing tall, lethal and handsome. He was only 21 and he stood there like a God, as if he knew everything, as if he conquered the world.

"I can clearly see that you've been avoiding me!", he muttered.

"My dear dear Thunder", the young lady ironically answered, "I stopped avoiding three years now because of your affair."
