"my coffee is cold," a customer complains.
"sorry, sir," the girl apologizes. "i'll make you a new one."
"no, i'm out of here." the man storms out.
sooyun sighs as she watches another customer leave. she frustratedly runs a hand through her short hair. she takes the cold cup and empties it into the sink.
"did you lose another customer?!" a man walks in from the back room.
she nods sadly. "sorry mr. rin," she apologizes.
"we can't have you chasing customers away like this!" he yells. "the next time you cause us to lose income, you're out of here!" he storms back into his office.
sooyun sighs and runs a hand down her face. her boss was a stubborn penny pincher who wasn't afraid to fire anyone. he even fired his own daughter because she put salt instead of sugar into a customer's coffee.
it was already a slow day at the coffee shop. being payed so little doesn't help pay her rent either.
sooyun groans and slumps into an empty table. the coffee shop was empty and deserted. she swore that if you listened hard enough, you could hear crickets.
she started to doze off when her phone buzzed in her apron pocket, jolting her awake.
yoongi
hey sooyunyoongi
when do you get off work? i'll pick you upsooyun
about an hour. it's a slow day though. you can pick me up anytime. thanksyoongi
i'm leaving my apartment now. see ya soonsooyun
byesooyun smiles as she locks her phone. it's good to have an actual friend.
she takes a coffee filter out of the machine as the door rings open.
"i'll be right with you," she says to the person who just walked in.
she turns around with the filled filter in hand, only to drop it when she sees who's leaning over the counter.
"shít, yoongi," she swears as she sees her now dirtied apron and jeans.
"ah, i'm sorry, sooyun," the man apologizes as he grabs some napkins from the counter and hands them to her.
"it's alright," she assures, "i was just startled. it's not your fault."
"i'm the one who scared you though. and now your pants are stained with coffee powder."
"it'll wash off," she says. "it's fine."
"i feel bad now," he pouts.
"no need," she says. "it's be something else if i was allergic to it. or slipped and cracked me head open. then you can be sorry."
he chuckles. "God, you're so morbid."
"it's a speciality," she nods.
"so what do you say we get out of here? your boss won't mind?"
"he doesn't care about his employees," she says, taking off her apron and hanging it on the rack in the back. "let's go."
sooyun takes yoongi's wrist and leads him out. she walks into the parking lot and turns back around. "i don't know where you parked."
yoongi chuckle as he leads her to his car.
"so where are we going exactly?" she asks as she buckles her seatbelt.
he turns around to check for cars before saying;
"my apartment."
