"sooyun!"
the girl looks up from the rusted swingset.
"yoongi?"
"i knew i'd find you here," he says, breath unsteady from running.
"and why are you here, exactly?" she asks, stuffing her phone into her pocket.
"you left me out in the blue after the whole emi situation. what happened?"
her face falters at the mention of her roommate.
yoongi notices and seats down on the swing next to her. "you don't have to tell me if you don't want to," he says in a soothing voice, his thumb drawings circles on her back.
"she was admitted into an asylum," sooyun finally says, her breath shaking.
"an asylum?" he asks. "how come?"
"apparently the voices got to her and she started hitting herself in the head with a frying pan, enough to fall on the floor unconscious. if mrs. hyun never heard the ruckus, i'd have to find her on the floor passed out myself," she explains, gripping the denim of her jeans.
"isn't it better for her at the asylum?" he reassuringly asks. "she can't hurt herself there."
"yeah but she might not have an apartment to comeback to. if she comes back, that is."
"how come?"
"i barely have enough to pay my portion of the rent this month, and now i have to pay for both of us. i don't know what to do, yoongi, i just.." sooyun stops and takes deep breaths, but it doesn't help the unsteady pounding of her heart.
she falls off the ground and crouches on the ground in a ball.
"sooyun!" yoongi calls, panic laced in his voice. he crouched down next to her.
sooyun tightly shuts her eyes. yoongi tries to pry her hands away from her arms so she doesn't accidentally hurt herself.
he manages to unstick one arm, only for her to shoo his hold away. he noticed her hands are trembling.
"sooyun," he says, "sooyun, listen to me. you need to take deep breaths."
she continues to curl herself up.
"sooyun, breath in and out with me." yoongi takes several breaths in and out. sooyun eventually loosens up and breathes with him.
"yeah, just keep breathing," he assures. "you're fine. we're fine."
she continues to breathe until her heartbeats aren't worryingly high anymore.
she swallows before finally saying, "jesus christ. it's been a while, dear friend."
yoongi cocks an eyebrow.
"i refer to my panic attacks as friends. since they come and go just like all of them."
his expression softens.
"sooyun," he says, "i want you to sell your apartment."
"sell my apartment?" she asks dumbfounded. "do you want me to have another moment? do you expect me to live on the streets with no designated place of rest? do you want me to drag all my things around with me? do you expect me to live a nomadic lifestyle-?"
"no, no, hear me out," he interrupts before continuing.
"sell your apartment so that you can live with me."
