On a beautiful sunny day, Leza was hiking though the forest, when the trail ended suddenly. Leza really wanted to see what lay just over the ridge, so instead of sticking to the trail like her father warned her, she wandered off disobediently to see what was next. But soon she had lost sight of the trail, and Leza had to admit that she was lost. Even worse, the sky was darkening, and thunder began to rumble. She felt like crying, but what good would that do? She had to decide if she would go forward or backtrack and to try to find the trail. After some thought she decided to backtrack because she thought at least she knew where she had come from. As she was scrambling through the underbrush, large drops of rain began to fall. The drops stung her skin and clouded her eyes. Leza thought she would never find the trail. Then, just as she was about to burst out crying, she heard her father's voice calling her over the storm. She screamed out, and tried to run, but she slipped and fell in the mud. She kept on slipping, panic rising in her throat until a warm hand reached out to help her. Her dad had found her. Leza promised over and over to herself she would never leave the trail again.
