I'm a lost puppy
Always two steps behind
Padding after him
My small paws
Attempting to fill his abandoned footprintsA single bark
To let him know I'm here
He looks back
For a single second
That second's all I needI sit back
Panting slightly
Tired from this long journey
Perhaps he'll finally let me restMy eyes beg for praise
For him to notice me
A small pat on the head
Is all I need to continue on.Instead, he stares at me
Before rolling his eyes
And continuing on
Heartbroken, I make one last attempt
A sad, pitiful wail
Escapes my lipsThis time, he doesn't even look back
But there's no one else to follow
Only him on this endless road
So I continue as his shadowMaybe he's just a cat person.
