Merlin huffed annoyed as the battle screams became louder as the bandits ran towards the small Camelot group. Arthur almost on instinct grabbed Merlin, pushing him behind the king
Merlin smiled when Lancelot killed off a bandit allowing Merlin to stand behind him which allowed Arthur to help some of the other knights, eyes glowing gold as he helped out with the fight with falling branches and a sudden bug of clumsiness going through the bandits.
Once the fight was over, merlin checked over the six men, making sure they weren't hurt, coving any small injuries. "I swear the bandits are getting worse each time. Next it's just going to be a bunch of Merlin's fighting us" Arthur said raising his sword and hiding behind it, earning laughs from the knights and a smile from Merlin.
Lancelot wrapped an arm around Merlin's shoulders giving him a knowing smile. "If that happened we would all be dead" Lancelot muttered making merlin laugh "you're lucky I don't kill animals for fun. " merlin retorted grinning.
Merlin rode beside his king, listening to Gwaine tell tails of his adventures in different taverns across the land, the knights pitching in a witty comment.
"Have I ever told you about the time-" Gwaine started, leaning back in his saddle finding a more comfortable position,
"Gwaine I think we have heard all your stories a hundred times over, merlin can finish them off by heart now" Leon interrupted a playful glancing behind for the talkative knight's reaction.
"The time I fought Emrys" Gwaine Finished silencing the laughing knights. Merlin paled as his body stiffened at the name.
His name.
Merlin turned to face Gwaine, catching Lancelot's worried and confused eyes. "You look like you saw a ghost merlin" Arthur said patting his servant on the shoulder.
Gwaine continued to tell the story of how he met and almost defeated 'Merlin' telling the knights proudly how he scared the man with a scar he could recognise on his neck, so if he ever came across 'Emrys' again he would know.
Emrys was a silent killer, rumour has it he is one of the best fighters around and being a powerful sorcerer he was well sort after by certain people who would hire him as an Assassin.
Merlin sighed softly, remembering the fight Gwaine was telling about, tugging softly at his neckachief. "What would you do if you saw him again?" Merlin asked curiously.
"Buy the man a drink" Gwaine said confusing the rest of the knights. "He killed the man that killed my father." Gwaine explained, Merlin's ears perked up at that, he never knew that information but he was glad he could help.
When they made camp, Lancelot offered to help with collecting firewood, following merlin out of hearing range. Merlin kept quiet wondering when Lancelot will ask the obvious.
"Most powerful warlock and now best fighter in all the lands. Is anything you can't do?" Lancelot asked throwing down a sword in front of Merlin's feet a smirk on his face.Merlin stared at the sword for a minute, his fingers itching to wrap around the handle, smirking he placed the wood he collected neatly on the floor, grabbing the sword. "picking a fight with a innocent manservant, I expected more from you lance" Merlin retorted grinning, receiving a laugh from the knight.
"Innocent my ass Merlin" the loyal Knight laughed, as he shed his sword, a playful smile on his face. The two circled each other before Lancelot strikes to which Merlin deflected easily, deflecting Lancelot's blows with ease, moving with expert footwork.
"Come on Lancelot, I thought your were a knight!" Merlin teased as his leg moving quickly to trip Lancelot over, Merlin's sword Taping the man's chest.
