Re upload, just made 4 chapters in to 2 :)
Merlin didn't know how exactly it happened or if he was dreaming but somehow by pure luck, he is not burning at a pyre. Though he did singe his armpit hair but that was a story for another day. Arthur knows, he knows about Merlin's magic and the warlock didn't exactly know what to make of it, nor did Arthur.
Somehow through the anger fueled death threats and hurt driven betrayal accusations, the king and manservant came to a deal. One week, Merlin will be exempt from the law surrounding magic and will be allowed to use it freely in Camelot. Obviously under close supervision of the king and his trusted knights but he was free, like a dog on a long leash; sheep in a vast pasture or fish in a large pond. Freedom with boundaries just as ironic as the king's resentment for something that keeps him alive.
Merlin is allowed to practice magic as he would normally for one week (7 days) in an effort to show the king that magic isn't an corrupting evil virus that turns people into soulless villains. When the week is finished, Arthur will decide the fate of Merlin's life. Well the king likes to think he holds that power, unfortunately Merlin will live no matter the verdict.
🛡 Day 1 🛡
The first day was a weird one, Arthur was on edge through out the day, anything with physical contact or getting with in close proximity of Merlin, he avoided at all costs. The king dressed himself, which Merlin corrected using magic, since his shirt was untucked and inside out. Arthur didn't seem to notice.
During the council meeting, Merlin was sent away to clean Arthur's room, another servant taking his place to serve the room. Which only lasted about ten minutes before Merlin was called in. The servant they chose was only new and didn't really know what was expected.
Merlin sighed softly walking up to the devastated young girl. The two knights, John and Felix looked confused at what the sorcerer was doing. it should be Leon and Elyan shadowing him but their were currently in the meeting so two others were called in. "Are you okay?" Merlin asked softly, crouching down in front of her.
"I've failed miserably, I spilt water all over the king! I've embarrassed my family" the girl cried out in distress. Merlin chuckled standing, holding his hands out for her.
"Nonsense! I was put in the stocks with in a ten minutes of meeting Arthur, I'd say your doing a better job then me!" Merlin said gesturing for her to stand. She did so hesitantly, allowing Merlin to help her up. "Don't worry to much, I've spilled many things over the king and his knights, they are harmless and the accident will be forgotten with in the hour" Merlin stated with a shrug, handing the girl a napkin to wipe her tears.
"Now come on, I shall show you the ropes, by the end of this meeting you shall be the best drink pourer in all of Camelot" Merlin said with a grin, guiding the hesitant maid back into the room. With eyes flashing gold, Arthur's shirt was dry and the water flasks were refilled, with water, a hint of apple and lemon to give it a refreshing taste.
Merlin silently showed the maid how to hold and pour, using a spare cup as an example. The maid nodded watching carefully everything Merlin did. Merlin served the first round of drinks and the maid hesitantly served the second refill. With a little help of magic she got it straight away.
Once Merlin was confident that the maid could handle herself, he poured two cups for the door guards as he always dose, they accept it with a nod of appreciation. Before exiting the room so he could finish the job he was asked to do, the two fill in knights following.
