The next day, Koeun entered uni as restless as ever. She bumped into multiple lockers but her system just doesn't wake up, not until Donghyuck sees her literally about to sip her pencil instead of the straw during lunch time.
"Noona! Get yourself together!" He sakes her vigorously, Koeun stares at him bewildered and realized what she was doing. "I'm sorry, I'm not myself today" her head down, she says. "You think?" Hyuck raised a brow and placed something in front of her. "Here, have this" he offers before leaving.
Hi, have a nice day 💕
Those were the words written on the post-it from the glazed bread Donghyuck had given. If he thinks this was gonna make her feel better, then he's wrong. Koeun feels really really bad that any material cannot comfort, she needs the comfort of a real human being.
If this wasn't because of that freaking phone call, she'd feel great. But life is a freaking traitor so don't expect something from it.
During bio, while her head was hanging low and her eyes were slowly closing, her classmate— Lee Seokcheol— threw something at her.
"What the hell is your problem?" She whisper–yelled, the boy only gestured for her to read what was written on it and proceeded to listen to their prof. "Ugh, my life sucks" Koeun complains while searching for the message on the classy pen that was thrown at her.
Smile, Koeun-ah
How can she fucking smile when this is creeping her out? Just on time the bell rings but before Seokcheol leaves the room Koeun grabs his collar, "What the heck is this?" Koeun angrily shoves the pen at him. "I don't know, man. Someone just told me to give that to you" he defends while raising both arms. "You sure?" She asks, eyes still shooting invisible lazers, "Yes, absolutely!" He says, but Koeun doesn't loosen her grip on him. "Who?" She asks, "I can't tell" Seokchoel says, eyes now shaking because Koeun sure was turning red. "Okay" she finally gives up and loosens her grip, the poor boy goes running off the room.
On the way to work, Koeun has to take the subway. It was a weekday so as expected the subway would be jammed with people and it'll be hard for her to find a seat on the ride. So to reach there early and to find a great seat, she stands on where she has estimated the train door would be positioned.
And she was right, she takes a seat beside the door and ride goes on. Feeling tired, Koeun decided to sleep it was going to be a long ride after all.
Little did she know, he was there standing right just beside her, watching her rock here head back and forth because she was sleepy. He felt every once of tiredness she had and felt how frustrated her aura is.
He felt bad to have left her for all these years, but he had to do the right. So that his name would be clean.
He did succeed and so did everyone of them. They were all living with different names and different identities, trying to change their lives. He did change his name too, and was about to change his life until he remembered her, the love of his life. She meant all to him him and even though she was a past. She was a past he could never erase.
The train comes to a stop, Koeun wakes up just in time. She walks off the train, leaves the sunway and walks her way to the convenience store, she puts her earbuds on and listen to music that comforts her heart.
The convenience store she works in was just across the street, the light was now red so she waits until someone stands right beside. Koeun wouldn't be so distracted if it wasn't for his scent that was so familiar to her. "Nah, maybe its baby cologne" she whispers, trying to make herself believe that it is not him.
But she sniffs to make sure, and another sniff and another. "Are you having fun sniffing me, Koeun-ah?"
"W-what?"
"Long time no see" he smiles, those eyes turning into crescent, his hair now a color of pure black and cut shortly and straight. Koeun slowly looks up and their eyes meet, just like the first time they met, she flipped.
Once again, her heart was having a frenzy inside her ribcage and so was his.
"M-mark"
As if on cue, the lights turn green.
"It's Minhyung, Lee Minhyung"
