"What?" I asked in shock when Marcos told me about our father. "No, no, no, this is not good," I pace about my room.
"Gigi, this is. I mean, it's not under the best circumstances, but we get to meet our father," Marcos reasons. I turn to face him.
"No! he kicked you out for being different, Marcos," I hissed.
"But he won't anymore! He's a mutant himself,"
"He...he's not a good man, Marcos," I whimper and rub my arms. He stops talking and his look changes. He frowns.
"Did he hurt you after I left?" I close my eyes.
"No, not Papi. Mateo," I suppress the memories. "But Papi knew,"
Marcos wraps me in his arms and kisses my forehead gently. "What did he do, Gigi?" he asks.
"He...he," I feel tears prick my eyes and I start crying. Marcos's hold tightens on my arms.
"I won't let him, or anyone hurt you again, Gigi. If it's the last thing I do, I'll keep you safe, okay? I love you and I will take care of you, do you understand?" He says as he firmly grips my shoulders and faces me. I nod and he hugs me again.
"Thank you, Marcos," I hug him and he strokes my hair silently.
