I wait in the darkness until I hear footsteps.

"Señor, your car is here to take you to your destination," the man, Mateo, my secretary says. I stand up and face him. "A fresh set of clothes are inside," I follow Mateo to the car and sit inside, changing into a crisp new suit. I breathe. Ah. Great to be back.

"How is everyone, Mateo?" I ask.

"They are well and await your leadership," Mateo answers.

"The other gang?" I ask.

"They have not paid the full amount yet," he reports.

"Have you taken the necessary arrangements?"

"Yes, señor. I have sent a team to extract the money," Mateo's cold, steely expression stares back from the rearview mirror.

"Wonderful. I am looking very forward to seeing my daughter, Mateo. How about you? I know you were fond of her, weren't you, Mateo?" I ask.

"Señor, she and I cannot be together,"

"Why's that? You two are only three years apart, furthermore, I approve,"

"Does she get a say in this, señor?"

"No, of course not," I replied bitterly. "Last time that happened, she got her heart broken and now she's run off to somewhere to find Marcos, my failure of a son. The arrangement is made, after I get Gianna back, you two will marry each other,"

"But, Señor-,"

"Don't test me, boy. You've seen me kill, I will spare you no mercy," I hiss and he is silenced.

One step closer to the rise of my empire.

One step to getting my family back.
