In the months that followed, everyone's condition improved. Gabbie was finally fitting in at school and her relationship with Christa was in its best place. Since his accident, Dan's health had gotten a lot better and his relationship status had almost made the internet implode. The coming out video soon went viral and lots of questions were asked. Things have settled down now, as much as they can do with the phandom. Phil was as happy as he had ever been and it showed. He was much more lively in videos and took part in almost all of them with Dan. The two boys were inseparable and it caused Gabbie great happiness to see her parents like that. Parents? It felt weird to call them that as she had watched them through a screen for so many years. She didn't call them 'Dad' because that would bring up a certain part of the Dan and Phil history that they had been trying to repress, sort of. But it felt right. And when they got married in December, it made the whole thing seem perfect. Gabbie was happy for the first time in years and her life was finally looking up.

That was when the incident happened. On Valentines Day, Gabbie and Christa were at school and were celebrating. They were the only couple in the class and everyone was congratulating them. Then Britney piped up and, in her annoying monotonous voice, said "Why is the freak suddenly so popular?" Everyone turned and looked at her in disgust and shock. She looked sheepish for a second but carried on talking trash. "I mean its kinda gross watching two emos be all lovey-dovey!" The whole class collectively decided to ignore her and they continued gushing over 'Christie' which was the new embarrassing ship name that they had recieved. Britney had had enough. She was fed up Gabbie taking up all the limelight. It was unnatural considering what had happened to her mum so why was she so happy? I mean she does have famous parents but she doesn't deserve them? How could she? Britney was engulfed in rage and lost control of her emotions. She marched away from her gaggle of friends and confronted Gabbie straight in the face. "Why are you so happy?!" Britney said condescendingly, her spit spattering onto Gabbie's cheek. "I mean after what happened to your mum you shouldn't be enjoying life! You should be wallowing in-" Britney's voice faded as she saw the shocked look in Gabbie's eyes. She had said too much. Far too much. "How do you know about that?" Gabbie had only told Christa and trusted her enough to know she hadn't told anyone so how did Britney know? The realisation swept through her like a hurricane. She suddenly understood why she recognised so many things about her yet couldn't place a face. It was because she hadn't seen her face. Because it had been covered by a black balaclava. Britney had killed Gabbie's mum.

Gabbie looked up from her stunned state and stared the murderer dead in the eyes and asked, cool as you like, "Was it you?" The look on Britney's face said it all although Gabbie needed no confirmation. She sped from the classroom with tears running down her cheeks and Christa close behind her. She ran down the corridor into a bathroom stall and sank to the floor in wet despair. Christa soon had her arms around her and listened to her incomprehensible sobs patiently. After she could cry no more, Gabbie expressed the injustice of the situation in the only way she knew how. Giving Britney her just desserts. She pulled out her phone and called her parents, Dan and Phil. "Hey Gabbie! How are you?" an always enthusiastic Phil answered the phone. "Hey Phil get Dan." "He's already here! What do you want to talk about?" "Call the police and report a murder. I know who killed my mum." She hung up and switched of her phone. She turned to Christa. "I'm gonna fake illness and get home. Will you be ok?" Christa smiled fondly "Of course I will. I survived for 4 years by myself. What's one more?" Gabbie laughed, they kissed and she departed for home.

As soon as the latch dropped on the front door, Gabbie was met by worried faces and questions. She explained everything in detail and they called the police. Britney was going to prison for her crimes and Gabbie had no regrets.
