The months passed. The case piled up. Then finally, in July that very same year, the case was closed with Britney, or Cali to use her proper name, receiving a life sentence. Gabbie felt like a mountain had been lifted off her shoulders as she walked down the steps of the Royal Courts of Justice. She was holding Dan and Phil's hands, happily talking about everyday life. She had said this before everything had got to hell but she felt confident when she said "My life is perfect" because it was. She would never see her mother again but at least she could rest peacefully now that her murderer was safely behind bars. She ran ahead of her parents and exclaimed she was making an announcement. She shouted for the whole world to hear, "My life is perfect and I have no regrets. I am perfectly happy with where I am in life and nothing could happen to change that!" Dan and Phil laughed along with her. Or so it seemed.

For a her whole life Gabbie's limbs had been aching and swelling and, since the  initial run-in with 'Cali', it had been getting worse and worse. She thought nothing of it. Nothing serious she thought. Until now.

Gabbie couldn't breath. She felt lightheaded and her legs ached with such pain that felt like they were snapped in two. She didn't hear the air rushing past her head as she fell. She didn't feel the impact of the tarmac that was once below her feet. She didn't hear the two grown men rushing down the steps to help their child. Her senses diminished and the world faded to black
