20. A Much Needed Talk

Luma's POV

"Uwaaaaahh, nothing like a nice hot shower after a good swim! Thanks for letting us borrow the showers here, Mr. President."

"Yeah, and not to mention a once in a lifetime opportunity to see what it's like within the walls that house the many reservations of countless Pokemon, seriously, this place is huge! I gotta say, Edgelord. You really have outdone yourself," Elio says as he mimics my stretches with a towel around his neck, awaiting Gladion's response only to be repaid with an aggressive hum and his eyes away from my Brother, only for Elio to stick his tongue out at him in response to his own.

"Hmm? Where did Hau go?" I asked as I realized a certain sunny boy had not 'graced' us with his appearance. My guess is that he's at the Observatory playing with the Pokemon.

"My guess is that he's at the Observatory playing with the Pokemon..."

Get out of my head, Gladion...

"either way, I'm surprised that our clothes dried too quickly. Did someone dry them, or am I going crazy?" Elio questioned as he sniffed his hat, getting a whiff of what was freshly scented laundry.

"that must've been Wicke's doing... honestly, I feel as though she coddles those two too much for their own good," Gladion placed his hands on his hips and looked straight at Elio, receiving a laugh from him in turn.

"Yeah, Luma is quite the little princess, isn't she?"

"I'm right here," I said allowed as I heard their small little chat as I rolled my eyes with a smile, delighted to hear that those two were finally getting along...

"Anywho, let's get going home. I'll go get Hau since I guess we live on the same island anyway. hope you don't mind waiting a bit, okay Luma?"

I nodded in turn as I watched Elio make his way to the elevator shouting at Gladion on how to work the elevator, only to shake it off and telling him that he'll learn. Which can only mean that Elio will get a bit lost, leaving me and Gladion alone in the balcony of Aether. We always seem to be alone together a lot lately. It's strange, yet I feel kind of... nervous. It made me feel especially jumpy when he turned his head to me with his usual piercing gaze meeting my own.

"so you recovered?"

"Huh?"

Woah, he's really concerned for me. I mean, I knew especially considering what mom told me about him visiting me at the hospital every day, but it still sent my heart aflutter and the genuine concern in his voice... even if it's subtle... I don't know how long I was staring, but it appears it was for a while with the way he lost some of his patience for my reply.

"y-yeah. Aside from some soreness on my sides, I feel perfectly fine." I wasn't wrong there, as soon as I jumped in the water, I felt like an anchor sinking into the bottom of the sea. Hence why it took to be a bit to get back up from the water. Ugh, I just hope he doesn't snake his arms around my waist unexpectedly like he did when we were at that alleyway... that was a pain I did not want to feel ever in my life...

"Maybe I'll be good to go for the next mission. Anabel and Looker said that I can come back whenever I'm ready."

"so you're still going to go on those missions? Even after all that happened?" I witnessed as his face drooped down to a deeper frown and averting his gaze from me... maybe it was wrong of me to bring the missions back up. I think he would be against the idea of me going against the Ultra Beasts again...

"I know that you may be against the idea, but if people are still going to be hurt by those things... then I'll gladly accept more and more scars with pride if it means everyone's safety. Including yours."

It's quiet... this anticipation is going to really be a death of me if not the clutches of an Ultra Beast... c'mon Gladion, please say something... anything... it made me feel way too tense for my own good when he turned to face me... and it really alarmed me when he grabbed me by the shoulders and plaster my gaze towards his own... he seemed worried, but still gritted his teeth.

"I'm only going to say this once... don't go after the Ultra Beasts if you know what's good for you and those around you. especially your family..."

"but!" quickly shut my mouth, I look at his hands... they were shaking like leaves... I could tell from the look of his eyes, his body language, and the way his arms were shaking... he was genuinely worried about me. the way he averted his gaze from me and quickly pulled me into a swift embrace. It flushed my face into a light blush.

"G-Gladion, wh-what are you doing?!" this was way too much... I... I don't even know what's going on... My hearts beating out of my chest. What do I even say? H-how should I even react?! It feels like Dialga stopped time on us or something because it feels like we've stood like this for quite a while now... but my arms felt as though they moved on their own and accepted his embrace by wrapping my arms around him, patting his back gently.

"thank you... for worrying about me... but I really do want to continue these missions even if I do get hurt... even if I'm scared, I want to protect everything and everyone in Alola. As someone who wants to keep the light of hope in Alola alive... and I promise you and everyone here in this region that I'll stay alive. No matter what..."

It grew silent again... we stood for a little while longer and the two of us parted from one another and saw the forlorn in his eyes growing even more and more, but still maintained their ferocity. Seeing him nod in turn gave me some relief, yet still made me feel somewhat nervous about the next mission. What if its just as bad as the last one, or if I do end up getting myself back onto that hospital bed?

"I...ugh, I didn't mean to surprise you like that... but if you really do intend to proceed with those missions, I'll help you in whatever way I can."

Nodding with a smile and a small blush on my face, I kept my sight plastered on the seemingly captivating eyes, ignoring the footsteps coming our way.

"Hey, Luma! I got Hau! Let's get-- and are we interrupting something?" Elio interrupted himself as he witnessed as we were still somewhat in an embrace with my hands on Gladion's arms and his hands on my shoulders, the two of us quickly letting go when we realized we still held on to one another.

"I-I-I-It's not what you were thinking, Elio! Whatever, just let me know when you're good to go and I'll have Charizard ready to go for us or something..."

Aww, crud... my face feels like it could melt right off from this... it feels like embarrassment, but I don't feel like crawling in a hole and dying there...

"Hmph, you should get going. It's getting late ... I have quite the busy day ahead of me."

Nodding, I summoned the Charizard Glide with my pager and saw as Charizard descended from the night skies and awaited as the three of us hopped onto it's back. As soon as everyone was good to go, we said our goodbyes and headed back to Melemele Island, quickly dropping Hau back in Iki Town.

"Thanks for the ride, you two!"

"Hey, anytime Hau. You're pretty alright" Elio scratched his head with a huge smile on his face as the Charizard flew away from our sights and back to the night. I decided to make my way back to the house, telling Elio that I would be heading back. But as I did, I was surprised to see a man standing at the end of the hill in front of a patch of grass. The man had white hair, somewhat tanned skin, a white shirt following a black and white short sleeved hoodie, matching shorts and shoes along with it. It didn't take too long for me to figure out, that it was the leader of Team Skull who seemingly dropped from the face of the Earth.

"it's about time that I found you, Moon..."

"Guzma? What are you doing here? Isn't it a little too late to be preying on kids in their trials?" it really baffled me when he pointed toward me with a menacing look in his eyes.

"get your ass over to the Hau'oli City Beachfront tomorrow. Then we'll really talk!"
