Mind of a Matchmaker

Andi walked down Carolton Street. "This day was so boring! I wish something interesting would happen."

"Hold it, ma'am!" A worker said as he stopped her. "There is a strange green puddle here. I am going to have to ask you to take another route."

"Fine." Andi said. But she didn't listen. When the man wasn't looking, she ran. Right through the puddle. The liquid splashed all over her clothes, and her face. "Haha. It's just a puddle."

She arrived home, and by then, all the green liquid had disappeared. Andi fell on her bed and decided to hit the hay a big early.

"Andi. It's time to get up." Bex said. The sunlight outside nearly blinded Andi for a few seconds. "Andi, come on! You're going to be late."

Andi got out of bed when she heard Bex. "Man, when did raising a kid get so difficult?"

"Mom! I'm right here! You could've at least waited until you got out of the room."

"What? I didn't say anything."

"Yes, you did. You just said that raising me was difficult."

"No, I didn't say that. I... thought it, though."

Andi's face turned to surprise. "Think of something else."

Bex stood silent and Andi concentrated on her mom. "Peanuts and applesauce. The angry rabbits spilled marbles on my trampoline."

Andi looked confused. "What goes on through your mind? What kind of rabbits spill marbles on a trampoline?"

"Oh my gosh! You can read minds!"

"I can! It must've been when I ran through that mysterious green puddle."

"Whoa whoa whoa. You ran through a random green puddle and didn't think it was important?"

Andi stood up and ran out the door. "Doesn't matter now. I can read minds! Time to go to school."

Walking through the halls, Andi heard thousands of thoughts.
"Time to bake the biscuits."
"How could this happen to me?! I've made my mistakes!"
"Gombolohpojamboree."

Andi made her way to her class. Miss Alphys said, "Alright, class. Today's lecture will be about Heat. Now, when water is heated at a high temperature, the molecules change—"

"I really should've made a lesson plan today! Hopefully, if I just talk nonsense, I can get through the class without anyone caring."

Andi raised her hand. "Uhh. Are you talking realistically? Cause I'm just hearing a bunch of nonsense."

"No! She noticed!" Miss Alphys started to sweat. "Must just be an off day for me. I'm so sorry."

Andi smirked. "It's fine. I have off days too."

During lunch, Andi watched silently as Buffy scribbled notes in her papers. "Alright. If I put the tiny spikes here, and the adhesive here, then TJ is going to really feel pain."

She stood up. "Gotta go, Andi. Side project."

Right as she left, Cyrus sat down. "Hey, Andi. How are you doing?"
"Sunshine, and rainbows, and happiness, and everything pure, because I'm Cyrus Goodman, and I'm apparently only seen as a smol innocent bean."

"I'm doing good."

Jonah walked by and gave Cyrus a high five. "Hey, Cy! How you doing."

"I'm doing great." Andi concentrated on Cyrus's thought. "Oh my gosh! Jonah touching me! I feel so happy right now!"

She looked at Jonah. Cool, calm, and collected Jonah Beck. "Ermagod! I did it! I went up to Cyrus. He's so cute and adorable. He's like a little pupper. I just wish I could date him."

Andi thought to herself, "Time to play matchmaker."

She looked at Cyrus as Jonah walked away. "You know, I heard a rumor that Jonah had a crush on you."

"Really? Uhh. I mean. That's cool."

Andi ran up to Jonah. "Jonah! Cyrus just told me he had a crush on you!"

Jonah beamed. "Wow! Uhh, I gotta go now. See you later, Andi.

Andi followed behind as Jonah went up to Cyrus. By the end of the conversation, the two were holding hands.

"This is great." Andi thought. "Now, time to see what I can do about Muffy."
