What did I get Myself Into?

Transport

    We walked down a few blocks before we were entering a new building that looked normal from the outside but on the inside, it had no roof and a giant pillar in the middle that looked like it was moving. The pillar stuck up from the roof but I couldn't see it from outside the building. The guys guided me over to a desk where a woman was standing in what looked like a flight attendant's uniform. She was strange though on her back was a pair of red and black wings it made no sense. Ludovic handed her a small packet that looked to have tickets in it. She nodded and pointed us into a room off to the side. She smiled at me when I walked by and I swear she had pointed fangs in her mouth. I went to do a double take but she was already helping the next group of people.
    We walked into the next room and it looked like a restaurant with tables all over the place but instead of some of them being empty there was a person in an airline uniform at each table. We went up to one of the tables that had a nice looking gentleman at it. He had green hair and his eyes were slit like a snake. These people were seriously starting to frighten me. "May I see your luggage?" When he talked it even sounded like a hissing snake. The guys didn't seem to care that all of the people here looked like some otherworldly creatures. Nicasio pulled out a bunch of tiny looking boxes and set them on the table between us and the gentleman. I didn't understand what they were until I looked closer and saw a few tiny looking purple boxes mixed in and realized that they were shrunken suitcases. How they got that way I have no idea. The snake man waved his hand over all of the tiny luggage and then smiled and put all of them in a box with a sticker that said "Approved" on top.
    We moved on to the next door after that and ended up on the other side of the room that we first entered. The difference this time, however, was that the giant pillar was now gone and in its place was a giant platform on the floor. Lots of people were rushing around and climbing onto the platform while others were going to another section of what looked like a hot air balloon basket connected to the platform. Ludovic, Phoenix, Orion, and I all walked toward the platform but Nicasio broke off and went to the giant basket thing. I got pushed and jostled on to the platform with the other three. Once we got on we were sorted into separate sections by more Airline looking people. After a few minutes, I heard a loud rumbling noise echoing throughout the room. Next thing I knew there was a roof floating above the platform, curtain-like partitions fell down between different groupings of people, and cushions appeared on the floor for us to sit on.
    Ludovic, Phoenix, Orion, and I were alone in one of the partitioned areas. We were all getting settled on the cushions on the floor when the platform shot into the air. I fell back due to my lack of balance and banged my head on the floor beneath me. I was able to sit up and I looked at each of the boys. Ludovic and Orion looked like they were trying not to laugh while Phoenix looked worried.
    Even though the platform had just started moving (I'm assuming in an upwards direction) I was starting to get a headache. I get motion sickness in cars and even worse when in an elevator situation and this is one of those times. "How long are we going to have to be on this thing, and why did Nicasio have to go in that basket thing?" I was able to bite out the question but it came out barely louder than a whisper, because of the pain I was fighting in my head. Phoenix had moved closer when he noticed I was in pain so he was the only one to hear my question. "Nicasio is in the basket because he is a member of the wind and they need to feel the wind flow through them when they travel so they can't be surrounded by this canopy like the rest of us, and the trip takes about an hour and a half." he took a minute to look at me and then continued. "Are you ok you look really pale?" "I get motion sick at times and when in an elevator like situation it gets worse. So my head feels like there are little cavemen in there bashing everything with their clubs and using chisels to split it open, and I don't have my medicine." He looked at me with sad eyes and I looked away trying to control the pain when something warm was placed around my shoulders and something cold was placed on my forehead making the pain ease. I looked up and saw that Orion had found my blanket and wrapped me in it and Ludovic's hand was on my head glowing blue making it seem to emit a cooling sensation.
    I don't know when it happened but I seemed to have fallen asleep because next thing I know I'm bolting up and My breathing is erratic. Ludovic is the only one still awake. He had one hand still on my head and he was using the other one to read a book. When I shot up he looked at me with a concerned look. "Are you ok?" "I she I I I saw her, she has to be here, I just saw her, where is she?" "Haley I don't know who you're talking about what's going on who is "she"?" "Brianna Raleigh, she was just there is saw her I swear it was her." "Haley, who is that?" I could tell that he was starting to get concerned by how I sounded Even I could hear the fear in my voice. "Cienna Raleigh is my bitch of a mother. She is the reason I am the way I am, she is an evil manipulative woman who will use you in any way to get what she wants. She used mind games on me when I was younger to make me think everything was my fault, she would yell at me and say terrible things about me, she didn't start hurting me until I was older when that happened my dad kicked her out but it was too late."
    I could feel the tears on my face but it didn't register to me that I was crying. By this point Phoenix and Orion were awake and Ludovic pulled me into his arms. "She broke me. After she left I started having nightmares and felt like I was being watched at all times. I was afraid to leave the house, one day my dad made me go to the store with my older brother and she came out and attacked us. She cut me so badly before the paramedics got there that they didn't think I was going to make it, I was in the hospital for two months. They arrested her for her crimes but I have more problems than imaginable because of her." Ludovic started rocking me in his arms and I was so upset that I didn't even care. Orion came over to us. "Haley, why are you afraid of her now if she is in jail?" " I think she escaped. I saw her I swear she was following us, she's going to come after me again. She won't stop until I'm dead." "You're safe here with us, there is no way she can get you here." "I'm not safe anywhere she will keep searching until she finds me and kills me." "Haley, there is no way she will be able to get to you, Escalera is protected by a magic force that won't let anyone in unless they are born there or the mate of one that is born there, it also has a safety clause in it not allowing anyone in if they mean harm to another who belongs there. There is no way she will ever be allowed here. Even if she could there is no way she would ever be able to hurt you Ludovic, Phoenix, Nicasio and I will be there to protect you." All three of them sat by me and held me in a protective way. A few minutes later I was falling asleep with tear streaks still on my face.
    "Haley wake up, we're here." I sat up my eyes were still bleary and I couldn't tell who was around me. I started to scramble back scared when the voice broke through the cloud and I recognized it as Phoenix. The brief panic that had come over me left and I took the hand that he offered me and stood up. I looked around and saw the other two were no longer here. "Where are we, and where did the others go?" "Ludovic and Orion went to go find Nicasio so we could head to our home." We started to walk off of the platform and went in search of the other three. "You didn't answer my first question. Where are we?" "This Haley is Escalera."
