Rush Of Wind

I feel the cold cement underneath my body, making me shiver. My wavy red hair flayed everywhere. I hear a distant bang and slowly open my eyes. I see a dark shape running for me, their arms outstretched. I turn my head to see another dark shape running for me, ramming into the first thing's shoulder, knocking them over. I see them fall to the ground, then scramble back up. The one that's closer to me is standing in front of me, close enough to step on my head if they stepped back. It was holding something I can't see very clearly. I hear another distant bang and the further dark shape collapses to the ground.

The one that's still standing then kneels down in front of me. I make out a face. I see that it's a guy. I see his mouth moving like he's talking, but I hear nothing. I just stare blankly at him. My vision was getting sharper, my mind was getting clearer, but my hearing still wasn't working. I looked past him and at the body on the floor, I knew that he was the one that wanted to kill me. I faced the guy that saved me and closed my eyes.

Suddenly, I felt a strong rush of wind hit my body. My eyes flew open and my back bent backwards, in an arch. A loud scream left my mouth. The guy reached out a hand and put it on my shoulder. He had a horrified look on his face and was shouting something I couldn't hear. I stared at him with fear in my eyes. What is happening to me?!

I roll over, a coughing fit starting to happen. I squeeze my eyes shut and let them come. What's the point on trying to hold them back? That'll just make it worse.

Two minutes later, my coughs subsided. I decided to sit up, my back was killing me. I looked at the guy again and noticed that he still had that horrified look.
"What?" I mumbled.
"Can you hear me now?" He asked, his hand still on my shoulder.
"Yeah. So?"
"I asked you if you were alright, but you didn't answer. It looked like you were looking through me. You didn't hear anything!" His voice was shaking slightly.
"I can hear you now." I shook his hand off.
"I know. But then after I asked that, you looked like you got hit by a truck or something. What happened?"
"I don't know. But it hurt." I placed my hand on my stomach. There was a sharp pain that stabbed there every time I turned my torso in a certain way.
"Are you ok?" His face looked like it's normal self again. His eyes softened and put his hand on my back. I looked down at his other hand and saw that it was bleeding, dark red blood rolling down his fingertips.
"I'm fine." I say, a little too sharp. I quickly glance up at him and wish I hadn't. His whole facial expression looks hurt. He takes his hand off my back and lowers his head. "I'm sorry." I quietly say, making my voice as soft and apologetic as possible. His eyes brighten a bit, but doesn't say anything. Nice going Jordan. I mentally slap myself.

Then I remember my family. I start to get up, but I fall back down.
"Here," he holds out a hand, "let me help you."
"Thanks." I take it and smile a little when he's not looking. Stop Jordie! He's older than you. He probably already has a girlfriend. Stop it! Don't think like that! My smile disappears instantly after he helps me up. I let go of his good hand and look at my feet as we walk down the alley. A brown street cat jumps out of a dark corner and runs under my feet. I scream and run and jump into the guys arms. I look at him and he groans a little. Oops! I forgot about his hand.

"I'm sorry." I say again. He gently sets me down on my feet and I look at his bleeding hand. "We should take you to a doctor."
   "It's fine."
"It doesn't look fine!" I place my hands on my hips and point at his hand.
"Ok then!" He throws his good hand up.
"Thank you." I say in my angelic voice and starts running in the direction of my family, the guy following close behind.
