The sounds of the city life in Derry was very calming to Beverly Marsh. Her eyes looking out in through the vast alleyways as a patch of grey smoke exited her mouth. Her two fingers clutching her burning cigarette, waiting for more of this bond between Bev and the smoke burning in her lungs. Smoking was something she always liked to do just like looking around through the alleyways. Her long hair tied into a ponytail that was too long in her opinion that laid down her right shoulder to her chest. She sighed, leaning her head on the bar where she sat on the fire escape of her apartment.

Bev was never usually supposed to let her father know she was smoking, just like any person would hide anything from the parents. She also didn't tell him about Bill.

To her, Bill was kind of cute for his age. His beautiful eyes and reddish hair seemed beautiful to her. She quickly shook her head, trying to ignore the thoughts inside her mind as her cheeks burned. She knew that she couldn't hang out with boys, nor have crushes on them for no reason. If her father found out that she liked a boy, there would be hell to pay and a lot of it. He always told her that he always worried about her and do things that she would never tell anyone about.

Bev sighed, taking another smoke as she placed the end of the cigarette in between her lips before taking a deep breath. She pulled the drug away from her lips before she exhaling again, her eyes looking out in the distance while she stared at the people from below. She could see two people, both the opposite genders, who were talking to each other quietly so she couldn't hear what they were saying.

The boy was taller than the girl, supposedly around sixteen. His hair was slightly long and wavy that was lightly colored in a dark brown. Brown dots covered some of his face and neck while he stared at the girl who must have been his girlfriend while he wore semi formal clothes. His girlfriend was beautiful with blue, piercing eyes and short, shoulder-length hair that covered her fragile appearance. She wore clothes that a goodie person would wear, one who would get good grades and look pretty at the same time.

Bev wished she could be like that. If she did, she would be better off in life with her mother who divorced her father around five years ago for a man named with the letter "L". That was all she knew about him because she had already forgotten his actual name because of how long ago it was. She remembered that he was the husband of two boys and cheated on her than on his wife. Bev missed her mom sometimes when she was alone, she wished that her mother saw the terrors that she faced from the bullying and her father.

She quickly tried to ignore those thoughts in her head, letting out a sigh as she watched the couple talk. Their expressions showing almost frustration and happiness with each other. They were almost in a relationship that they were struggling to have either by her grades or that he didn't understand anything she said.

Bev took another smoke, watching as the two held hands and left, leaving the alleyway lonely and quiet. Bev sighed, standing up as she flicked her cigarette down to the ground. The small thing rolled down the ground, going towards the sewer drain as it dropped with no noise that it had fallen. Bev turned her back, going towards her window which was her way of getting out of the fire escape until she heard something.
