ROHAN MEHRA
Today is Tanu's result and I know how nervous she can get, that's why I texted her to calm her self.
I am sure she will score very well and make her mother and all of us proud.
It's been 1 and 1/2 month of us dating and it's being really good, we have learned so much about each other, we respect each other's privacy, time and priorities, I am blessed to have a person, who understands my commitments and doesn't nag about calling all day like I had in US.
She respects and understands that we too have our individual life's to work upon, but we make sure to talk to each other daily or have some sort of conversation.
Later she texted me she got 89% and I was very happy for her, I started grinning ear to ear, that's calls for a celebration, I decided to take her for a date this weekend and celebrate her success. My mother always says that we should always celebrate our little successes as a reward for us, so we get motivated to work harder and achieve more.
As it was time for the meeting, I went in the room, I was signing the deal when I received a call from Tanu, she never calls me at this time, so thinking it may be important i picked up.
As soon as I picked up I heard her, she was very angry, I understand what would be going in her mind. being in a society and having some family member who is very conservative always brings anger in us, and it makes hurdles in our path of goals, but they are not completely wrong, they are just worried and right on their parts, but the way of their convey is wrong, I know I have gone through that situation, being the son of the family has always given me the societal pressure of working and continuing my business, and have listened to my grandmother talking about my sister how she should get married and have kids and for me to work hard and earn for the family, not for girls but for boys also there is a pressure.
In this times, we forget that the person also have dreams, my parents have been a biggest support in our life's they have always made us understand how people's thinking works and in the end all that matters is what we portray. They have always supported me and my sister to work for our dreams. I talked to Tanu and said her to talk to her mother, I knew her mother would understand her, but right now she was very angry and needed to cool down so her going to the library was best, so I didn't opposed her. I know once she clams down she will be able to talk and I decided to meet her later in the evening.
As a best friend and a boyfriend, I will support her and make her believe in herself and help her to achieve her dreams with her hard work and my moral support. I know how much her goals mean to her, even Sonu and Neel had told me how passionate she is to work.
I a sure that our relation will never be a hurdle for any of her to achieve her goal, I will make her believe that I will be there with her in her journey. I don't know what future holds for us, but as her best friend I will be there and today I know she needed me and I was thankful i picked up the call, or she would be overthinking in a very wrong way.
Deciding to go and meet her in evening I started doing my work sending her a text to calm her self down.
At 6:00 I decided to go to her place, I texted her to be ready so she can come downstairs, I had already informed her that I would be coming to meet her.
I reached near her house and saw her standing downstairs, with the look I knew she was still upset with what had happened, I went towards her and said, "hey".
"Hii..."she said.
I gave her the chocolate which I bought for her to cheer her mood.
"Thank you", she said with a smile.
"So, what happened, did you talked to aunty?"I asked.
"Yes, I said tell aunt that I am not ready for marriage", she said.
"What did aunty said?"I asked.
"She said, not to get worried, she will handle my aunt and too focus on my next goal", Tanu said.
"That's right, let your mother talk to your aunt, and don't worry, no one will force you to get married", I said.
"I know, but I am still pissed at how my aunt's thinking works, and was wondering how many girls would have left their careers because of one person in the family who thinks likes this", she said.
"I agree, but it depends on situation, family background as well, and we can't interfere in everyone's matter right, we can aware them but can't force it", I said.
Unintentionally we intervened our hand and she kept her head on my shoulder as we were walking and that was the best feeling I had.
"I know, but we say we leave in 21st century, the world has advanced so much, but there are aspects which are neglected and are not favorable", she said.
"Tanu, however we say we are advanced some part of us will always remain back, especially for the old generation who has not been able to adapt to the change, and we can't force them, sometimes it's better to let them live in their own world and we stay in our own, I know it's not possible as it affects us, but we have to adjust", I said.
"True", she said, and we walked in comfortable silence for sometime and it felt good to have such normal conversation.
"Thanks for coming today, I really needed some one to talk to, and with my morning outburst mumma was also not able to talk to me clearly, I talked to her right now before you came, and will talk about my point later, I know she understands and supports me and will support me", She said.
"That's like a good girl:, I said ruffling her hairs and she pouted.
She looked damn cute, so I pinched her cheeks.
"So what's the plan? when will I get my treat?" I said.
"Umm, in your dreams", she said and ran, I ran behind her to catch her. It was fun to see her childish self.
I like how we can be so care free in such a sort time, I guess it's because we knew each other before, and we were friends rather then directly jumping into a relationship.
