I counted all of about a minute and a half before Wyatt and Mel finally registered that I was in fact in front of them and not just some weird dream that they were both sharing.

Wyatt shot up out of his seat and bolted so that he was standing in front of me, while making sure Mel was hidden behind him. I rolled my eyes trying not to smirk at Wyatt's actions and glanced slyly behind him at Mel. She wore a look on her face that mostly contained shock, her lips kept twitching and I could tell that she didn't know whether to smile or frown, or just kill me where I stood. Not that she could anyway because I knew that they hadn't found a way to kill me yet.

"What are you doing here?" Wyatt boomed and I knew that he was trying to tap into his voice manipulation power to scare me but it didn't work, because he didn't have the right trigger. I rolled my eyes.

"Is it really not that obvious why I'm here?" I countered and Melinda walked around the couch so that she stood on Wyatt's left. Frowning she tilted her head at me as though she was trying to figure me out before she finally shrugged.

"I have no clue. My best guest would be that you're here to kill us" she said and I felt myself smile before I shook my head in amusement. I had a sudden urge to laugh but knew that it would be a bad idea.

"Actually I heard about Chris" I said shrugging, "-and thought I'd come to see if I could do something" I nodded at the end and Wyatt crossed his arms. I studied him closer.

Wyatt and I had never been that close up until six years ago and from then on we were like siblings. We fought like siblings but we also looked out for each other. He had always been a hard person to read but somehow I'd managed to penetrate the wall that he used to put up around himself and his family for protection. We'd grown close but my choice to leave him and his family to join the Underworld had caused him to build the wall up again until this time not even his body language showed me what he was feeling. I sighed and looked at Melinda who was frowning.

"Seriously what are you doing here?" she asked and I bit my lip.

"I'm here to help you with Chris. That's all" I shrugged and looked closely at Mel.

She twitched as she saw that I was looking at her and I noticed instantly that Mel had changed the most. Her body language and even facial expressions seemed to have aged five years. She had an air about her that seemed to radiate inner strength but also inner conflict and I realised that the inner conflict was due to the fact that she no longer had a confessor, because she was now the 'woman' of the family where everyone went to her for help or for a shoulder to cry on. I wondered how much she relied on Caleb now. I couldn't help but feel tremendously guilty and I gulped slightly trying to muster up a sympathetic expression, but all I did was give her a half smile. She didn't return my smile and I knew then that she probably thought I was taunting her.

"Well we don't need your help" Wyatt said emotionlessly. I turned my attention back to him to see that there was a fire in his eyes. I sighed.

"Well apparently you do need my help Wyatt. I know how much you would love to kill me right now but due to the fact that I'm still alive you must be terribly desperate, which means that every magical solution you've come up with has failed" I said shrugging and saw his eye twitch in annoyance. I wiggled my nose.

"So can I go and see him?" I asked deciding that it would be better than just walking upstairs in case Wyatt changed his mind and did in fact try to kill me. He tensed and Melinda twitched before she burst out laughing. I turned my attention to her.

"You think you can just waltz in here and demand to see my brother just because we're desperate enough to consider letting you help us. Well you can think again Lila" she said with so much venom in her voice that I had to lean against the wall for support, though I made it look like I was a casual thing. I rocked my head and back and forth.
