A Warrior's Saga

Chapter 6.

Mahendra, Rudra and Anumak were sleeping in the same tent. Mahendra woke up to check if everything was ok. A sound of a conch shell was heard by him. It grew louder and louder. Due to the sleep, he was feeling drowsy when he realized what was going on. He ran up to Rudra, "Rudra....wake up....attack...they are coming."
Rudra opened his eyes a bit, "Attack?.....what...attack!! Wake everyone up and tell them to get their arms and horses!" The sunrise was nowhere near. They had to fight in the dark.

Soon, everyone woke up to fight for this unexpected battle at night.
"Those cowards, they broke the rules by attacking at night." Mahendra raged.
"Those are barbarians, they follow their own rules!" Rudra remarked.

The soldiers were standing in straight lines, mounted on their horses. Rudra came forward and said, "My fellow soldiers. We know that they have broken the rules of battle. We won't fight in these bushes, so, we have to go and block the road. They don't have much experience fighting in open grounds. That would be an advantage for us. To the road."
The horsemen galloped towards the wide jungle road where the battle would commence. The army was divided into two parts. One would be under the command of Mahendra and the other under the command of Rudra.

"My army would defend the centre. Mahendra you will flank from the right." Rudra said.
"Yes," Mahendra said, "Formation of fours. And hold position, let them attack. JAI SHRI RAM. (Glory to lord Ram)"
The men got in the formation and repeated, "JAI SHRI RAM."

A huge cloud of dust emerged from the distance. It was night but the dust was still visible, that indicated the massive number of men approaching them.
Mahendra looked at Rudra. He made some signs with his hands to ask whether they should attack or defend.
Rudra responded by making sign of immediate attack.
"Soldiers, they are many. We won't wait. Fight for truth. Fight in the name of god. HAR HAR MAHADEV!!" Rudra shouted holding up his trident and pointing it towards the enemies who were now visible. "HAR HAR MAHADEV!" The troops repeated.

Very soon the blades clashed and the silentSulsam forest had turned into a ferocious battlefield.
The armors of sodiers were shining in the faint moonlight.
