Rudra cut the ropes with which the hands of Meera were tied up.

The next thing he remembered was that Meera gave him a hard punch.
After few moments he came back to his senses. Meera was sprinting towards the forest. Rudra ran after her with his trishul.

It was a clear aim, no chance of missing. Rudra held up his trident to throw it at Meera but he was reluctant. Something inside was stopping him from throwing the weapon.
Come on, what happened? She is just another enemy and she broke her promise. Why are my hands shaking to throw my weapon? Rudra she will escape...but...but you cannot kill her. Rudra was struggling inside and his hands were shaking.

He just couldn't throw his weapon at her. When he realised, she was long gone in the dark woods. Rudra regreted for what he did. He knew everyone would be angry but he had trusted her.

Rudra decided to spend the night beside the lake. He woke up with the first rays of sunlight. He folded his hands to pay respect to the mighty Sun.

He heard some commotion so, he went back to the camp. He saw everyone's swords out of their scabbards. Instinctively he also held up his weapon in alarm. He went a little closer. Mahendra was pointing a sword on someone fallen on the ground

Rudra was shocked, she was Meera. Why did she come back? He thought.

Mahendra shouted , "How did she escape even after tying her up so properly?"
"I freed her!" Rudra exclaimed.
"You freed her? But why?"
"Because I don't think she is a danger anymore. She had promised me that she won't escape." Rudra sighed.
"And you believed her. You behaved like a fool." Mahendra roared, "Its not even a day since this assassin tried to kill you! Either you kill her or let me have the pleasure."
"You cannot just kill her Mahendra, there are rules for trials. Don't let your anger control you."

"I am not listening to you this time." Mahendra shouted.

Mahendra picked up his sword and swung it at Meera ferociously.

Rudra immediately picked up his trishul and threw it aiming for the sword. The trishul flew just above Meera's head, disarming Mahendra's sword from his hand and impaled the tree behind him.

Meera had broken into tears. Rudra saved her just a few moments before death.

"Did you stop me?" Mahendra was now perplexed. He had never seen Rudra behaving like this.
"I am sorry for that, but you have to follow the rules." Rudra replied.

Mahendra stormed out of the tent.

"I have broken your trust, but you still savedme. Thank you. You gifted a second life to me. I promise I will never break yourtrust again, never..." Meera was crying.

"You better not. The next time even I won't be able to save you." Rudra said departing from the scene.
