The soldiers ate their breakfast. Rudra and Mahendra hadn't talked since morning. Ratan had watched all this quitely. He wasn't still so comfortable with them to intervene in their personal matter.
They were preparing to depart when a hawk made a loud squack in the clear sky. All of the people looked up. Mahendra recognized, it was the royal hawk of the kingdom used to send secret and confidential messages.
Rudra whistled in tone familiar only to his friend. The hawk came down and settled on his arm. A letter was tied to its leg. Rudra opened it.
KINGDOM OF NARSAL
This message is to inform the generals:
The capital city is under attack. The kingdom of Dholapur has
set out an attack to seige the city. They will be attacking in 1 day.
Your king demands your presence.
There was the royal seal of the king below it. Rudra looked surprised. He handed over the letter to Mahendra. Mahendra looked at it. He was also shocked.
They had never imagined that their kingdom would be attacked when they were away. It couldn't had been mere coincidence. They knew that even if they would take 2 days to reach even at great speed.
"Prepare to depart now! Our kingdom is under attack. We will have to reach before 2 days." Rudra shouted.
"That's impossible." Ratan expressed.
"Nothing is impossible if you believe you can do it." Mahendra said.
Soon, the whole squad, including Meera was galloping towards the city. The forest was a less denser in that part. That proved to be an advantage for them.
