"So Hazel was it..?" Mr Ewens asked my sister. She just nodded at him silently from her seat across from him. We were sitting in the back of some sort of armored limo. I guess being on the council had its perks.
"Are you training to be a huntress like your sister?" He asked and pointed at the sword hanging off her waist, "I couldn't help but notice the weapon you had..."
"Yeah...I am...I just started attending Signal" she lied. I had to hide the look of confusion on my face, "the weapon. It was my mothers. It's a family heirloom kind of thing..."
"When I started out, I never was very good with swords. So it skipped me and went to Hazel instead." I said, agreeing with her lie. I would ask about it later, but I figured she had her reasons. She always does.
"Well if you're going to be living with us. You should know we have an entire room dedicated to training. It'd be entirely at your disposal if you wished to continue."
"That's very kind of you sir. Thank you." Hazel graciously accepted. I could tell Bondi was biting her tongue. She probably wanted to call out her dad again, because I know she had no problem with us kissing up to him. We had to. She understood that.
I already could barely stand the guy though. He was fake. I saw what he was like with Bondi, and that's the real him, but he acted nice so people didn't know that. It was a little sickening.
Eventually the limo slowed to a stop, and unfortunately, I remembered that would mean I would have to go outside. Rose slid over in her seat to open the door, but before she could, someone on the outside opened it for her. I guess she wasn't used to that. None of us were.
"Thank you..." I said as I slid out of the car behind my team. I tried to fight the shivering, but some fights are impossible to win. The jacket I got before we left was nice, and it helped, but it could only help so much. I really wished there was a way for me to turn off my semblance. Maybe there was and I just hadn't found it yet.
"Not used to the weather I take it?" Mr Ewens asked, with a slight chuckle, as he climbed out of the limo.
I just sighed and answered "you could say that..."
"Well then let's get you all inside..." He chuckled and nudged towards the mansion that I somehow missed. I looked up and saw a grand, elaborate looking mansion, and it was my new home. It almost looked more like a castle than a mansion. I may not like Mr Ewens so far but at least he has a nice place.
We walked up the stairs to a giant front door. Honestly, it was a little intimidating, m
even though I knew it was friendly. Before we even got close to the door the lock clicked and it slowly slid open. Apparently he had his own doorman too.
The foyer to the place matched the exterior. It was unnecessarily huge. A giant pearl white staircase, balconies all around the room, a giant crystal chandelier, the whole nine. In the center was a statue of a warrior, but I couldn't tell who.
I looked around in awe, so did Hazel and Rose. Mr Ewens just grinned, while Bondi stood up against the wall disinterested. Still though, this place was impressive, it must've cost a lot to build this place. Then again, he probably had a lot.
"Glad you like the place," he said with a laugh and paused for a second. "Chalmers!" He continued as he called over his servant. A man in a vest and tie rushed over and stood in front of Mr Ewens with his arms behind his back.
"Sir." He said sharply and gave him a confirming nod.
"Take our guests to the guest rooms...and feel free to let them explore if they wish," Mr Ewens commanded, "my daughter and I are going to have a quick talk."
"Please...if you'd follow me..." Chalmers said and started to lead us away towards our new temporary rooms. I looked back at Bondi and she gave me a joking "kill me" look, and I had to stop myself from laughing out loud. Instead I just turned it into a grin on my face.
I didn't realize how big the place was until we were walking inside of it, and I didn't realize how many staircases it had. By the time we got to the rooms, Hazel was starting to breath a little heavy. Rose and I were conditioned enough to not be bothered by it, and apparently Chalmers was too. I guess walking around the place so much he got used to it.
"Your rooms ladies."  He said politely and motioned to three doors side by side down a hallway. "Feel free to explore...settle down...whatever you may. Just know, we're preparing a meal for you all. The dining room is just on the other side of the Foyer."
"Thank you Chalmers..." Rose said as she walked to the furthest doorway. I took the middle, and Hazel took the one on my other side. We all entered our respective rooms simultaneously. I couldn't see the others reactions, but I imagined they were just as impressed as I was.
Elaborate paintings on the walls. A giant glass door with a balcony, not that I'd be using it. More fancy glass chandeliers, vases, mini statues. There was enough room to fit a Goliath in the room.
"I love this place!" I heard a muffled shout come from Hazel's new room with an excited laugh after it. With her love for the arts, I'm sure this entire building was a dream come true for her, and if you ignored the reasons we were here, it should've been...
