"Are you ever gonna let mom know about all that happened?" Hazel asked over a call. I was sitting in my room a couple of days after the train situation. Glynda had recently gotten downtown vale fixed up, which I'm sure that job was terrible.
"Oh god no...no chance of that happening." I said with a laugh, "she'd probably come and pull me out of beacon...gotta at least wait til after the festival for that."
"Cmon sis. She wouldn't pull you...she may disagree with what you do, but she respects that you do it. For the most part."
"That was before I could've died though...that was before Grimm basically invaded vale..."
"Eh you lived though." She said nonchalantly, as if it was some big joke. Which since it was over now, it kind of was, "your fire's not done burning yet."
"Oh it won't stop burning for awhile. My legends not done yet. It's just beginning."
Suddenly there came a knock at the door. Rose was standing in the doorway very impatiently, and she asked, "well then let's go write your legend. Tournament is starting. We need to get to Amity Arena."
"Good luck sis!" I heard Hazel call out on the scroll, apparently I had speaker mode on, "Mom and I will be watching!"
"I'll be sure to put on a show for you." I said as I got up and started walking by Rose. Mag and Bondi were waiting at the Arena already.
"Love you sis." I finished
"Love you too." She said cheerily as we both hung up.
"Nervous?" Rose asked with a grin as we walked towards the airship fields. She was walking cockily with a hip sway, so she clearly wasn't worried.
"With the teammates I have? Not worried a bit." I laughed as I nudged Rose playfully. She stumbled a little bit and almost tripped over herself. "Okay maybe not..." I said and we both giggled to each other.
There was just a happy and excited Aura between us. One of our childhood dreams was fighting in the Vytal tournament together, and today was the day we lived that dream. We used to go up and watch the tournament every year. I couldn't wait to see the Arena from the middle, even though I'd probably be too preoccupied to gaze.
"We've finally made it..." Rose sighed happily as we moved along, "Ember and Rose, fighting in the tournament. Remember when we were 13 and we were mock fighting as if we were here? Your mom lost her mind."
"I still don't think she ever found it." I joked.  We laughed and kept walking. Pretty soon we made it to the airships that took us up to Amity Arena. Mag and Bondi were already waiting for us at the air docks. There was a nervous energy around all of us. This is what we've been training for all year, we didn't want to mess up the opportunity.
"Welcome to Amity Arena!" I heard professor ports muffled shout from inside the Arena's announcer box, "home of the Vytal Festival Tournament!"
"Yes welcome indeed." Oobleck seconded. I couldn't help but laugh at those two commentating the fights. It would make for some...interesting commentary. "Now for those of you who are unaware, let us explain the rules." Oobleck continued, and then he went on a long coffee induced spiel about starting with all 4 members, with the winners advancing to the doubles round, and then to the singles to eventually crown the champion.
"Looks like it's time ladies..." Bondi said confidently, and I wish I could have at least half the confidence Bondi did. I wasn't worried about my team, I was worried about myself. I knew I could fight, but In front of all of those people?
We had to wait for the first match to finish before we entered the Arena, so I spent that entire time trying to pump myself up. I figured adrenaline and instinct would take over once we got in there, but I still couldn't shake away the pit in my stomach. I let out a deep sigh and shook my whole body anxiously. I really hated this part of me.
I felt a pair of arms slip around my waist. I felt someone leaning Into me, and I saw the top of Roses head. I hugged her back and suddenly Mag was hugging us both with both arms, and tail. Soon after Bondi joined in on the team hug. For something as little as this, it really helped calm me down.
"Team CYAN is victorious!" I heard Port Bellow faintly, the sound muffled by being under the Arena, "what a thrilling match!"
"Quite thrilling!" Oobleck agreed, "but don't go anywhere! We've got another thrilling matchup coming up between team EMBR of Beacon, and Team AMRT (Amaranth) of Shade!"
"We got this..." Rose reassured as all as we turned towards the gate that was opening. The sound of the crowd roared through the Arena as the gate opened.  We all stepped forward, side by side by side, until we reached the center of the Arena. We met team AMRT in the middle and I did the best quick analysis of them I could.
Two guys, two girls. Girl one had a spear looking thing. There was a trigger on the handle, but I saw no barrel, so I assumed it shot out the spearhead. She was wearing simple clothes. Short gray shorts, tall combat boots, and a gray jacket. Girl number two had bladed gauntlets on both wrists, and on her monkey tail. She wasn't quite as subtle. She had on a black hood and bandana, so all I could see was her eyes. She had on a slim sleeveless black shirt, but she had really long black gloves that went up to her biceps. She had more black on her slim pants, with some knee pads, and normal ankle height boots. She had to get hot all the time In those deserts. Both of them were pretty small, not quite like Rose, but they weren't big either, but they looked vicious regardless.
The first guy was medium sized, wasn't wearing a whole lot of armor. Simple black jeans and a blue jacket, no shirt on. He had a pretty long trident. I didn't see any noticeable transformations it could've had. The other guy was tiny for a guy, and it looked like he was holding a whip with what looked like a glorified taser on the end. He was oddly enough wearing a nice formal button up shirt with a vest on top of it, and the sleeves rolled up. Seemed pretty strange for a shade student, but I went with it.
"You're not gonna go easy on us right?" The first girl asked with one of the smuggest grins I'd ever seen.
"Oh no chance..." Bondi stepped up, with an even smugger grin.
The randomization for the Arena started to roll. I just stared down with my eyes closed, thinking anything but ice, anything but ice, to myself repeatedly. I didn't even have to open my eyes to figure out what it was. I cursed as I felt the chill hit me. It took all my willpower not to shiver. I opened my eyes and saw the other half of the Arena was the mountains, not particularly helpful either, but it's not ice.
"Oh ho ho!" Port laughed, "bad luck for Dear Ember. It appears her semblance will be useless for this match!" I simply glared daggers up at the announcers box.
"It seems so. You can't draw heat from what heat there isn't!" Oobleck finished with a laugh, and I only glared up harder.
"Right you are Barty! Now let the match begin!" Port called out, and we all got ready in our stances, "in 3! 2! 1! Begin!"
I went to dash on past them to where it wasn't freezing, but the monkey girl had other plans. Before I even made it 5 feet, the blade on her right wrist was coming towards my face. I somersaulted backwards and felt the air from her strike. I tried to stand back up and push forward, but I kept sliding on the ice, not to mention my body felt like Ice.
Bondi literally slid up next to me, and the trident boy came along with her. Out of the corner of my eye I could see Rose and Mag dealing with the spear girl and whip guy on the side of the mountain, or at least what mountain there was before Rose jumped off of it blew a hole in the side with an explosive arrow. The two fell hard and dropped their Auras slightly.
Next thing I knew Bondi was swinging her club at an outcropping of ice, sending shards of ice at the two. It was unorthodox, but effective. The two flipped backwards, and couldn't regain their balance when they landed. I used the guns on my Tonfas to propel myself forwards towards trident boy, since he didn't have the best weapon to defend himself close range. I sent my forearm towards his jaw, hitting him with the blade of Aestus, as he couldn't gain the balance to dodge.
He flew back onto the platform in the center of the Arena. I didn't even try and gain my balance again, I just fired and rolled forward, coming up next to him. Inconveniently, Bondi smacked monkey girl hard and she landed right next to me. I vaulted backwards to avoid being stuck in a 2v1 situation, also I felt my body stop trying to kill me the further I got from the Ice. I didn't realize it but I was standing much taller and stronger now.
I got the 2v1 anyways. Bondi was having troubles making her way over to me. I thought being from atlas she'd be used to ice and snow. I thought wrong. Trident boy and monkey girl walked up to me cockily. The boy swung his trident like a club, trying to take my legs out, and monkey girl swung her arm high at my head.
I dropped my legs out from under me and brought my shoulders towards the ground, almost like I was laying down in mid-air. So they ended up hitting air on either side of me. I went to vault backwards, but as I kicked up, I felt a chain rap around my ankle. Apparently spear girl got the idea about my semblance, because she was the one who chained me. She spun her spear and sent me flying back in a circle and back towards the ice part of the Arena.
I hit the ice and stuck Ignis and Aestus into the ice so I wouldn't slide out of the Arena. Bondi finally managed to stand up, only for me to slide into her and knock her down again. I slowly stood back up, now that my body had a taste of warmth, the ice felt even worse. I stood up, shivering wildly. Calor could only do so much, I really had to think of a way to light a fire, cause it didn't seem like they wanted me to leave this area. Thanks Port.
Speaking of Port, I completely forgot that they were commentating the match. I had just been tuning them out. Same with Aura levels, not that there was much to look at with on our side. Bondi and I were both hovering around 90, same thing for trident boy and monkey girl.  It was way different on the other side of the Arena. The other 4 were all in the 40-60 range.
That was only confirmed when I heard Port bellow, "oh that's got to hurt!" and an explosion seconds after.
