Pyrrha found herself drifting back into consciousness. Ugh. What happened? My head is pounding. Pyrrha opened her eyes to see herself in her room.
"Pyrrha?" a familiar voiced whispered. Pyrrha turned her head to the side to find Yang sitting by her bedside. "Yeah?" she responded confused by the concern in the girl's eyes.
Before Pyrrha had any time to react Yang tackled her into a hug. "I was so worried! Please don't ever do something like that again!" Yang exclaimed tears starting to form in her eyes. "I almost lost you once don't make me lose you again!"
That's when Pyrrha understood. She hugged her friend tightly back."Don't worry I'm not going anywhere. I promise." she responded softly.
Yang let go and asked "Pyrrha what do you remember? About the attack that is." A bit confused by the sudden question Pyrrha answered "Well I remember seeing you about to be attacked. Everything's a bit of a blur after that."
In response Yang hit one of Pyrrha's legs. "Ow! Yang! What was that for?!" she shouted. "So you felt that?" the blonde asked. "What in ow do you not understand....." Pyrrha's voice trailed off when she realized what Yang meant.
"I-I can feel my legs." she muttered "I CAN FEEL MY LEGS!" she repeated yelling excitedly. Yang's eyes lighted up in amusement. "Hey, calm down Pyrrha. You haven't moved your legs in months, it is going to take a while before you can walk." she said.
"I know but I thought I would never be able to walk again." Pyrrha exclaimed her eyes shining. "You know, I think this is the first time I've seen your eyes shine like that since the Fall of Beacon." Yang said giving the redhead a small smile.
The mention of Beacon's Fall immediately made Pyrrha's face fall. "Oh, I guess you're right." she said her voice going from energetic to a sad tone. Yang put her hand on Pyrrha's shoulder for comfort. "Do you want to talk about it?" she asked softly. Pyrrha gave out a sigh before responding "No, I'm okay. I'm just not ready yet."
Yang seemed reluctant but didn't press Pyrrha any further. "Well come on! The sooner your back in shape the better!" she exclaimed her voice sounding cheerful. Yang extended her arm out to Pyrrha. "Alright." the redhead said grabbing Yang's hand. "Let's get started."
Time skip
Yang and Taiyang were both in a fighting stance. Taiyang made the first move, swatting at Yang with his hand. Yang thrust his arm away. He tried again but Yang did the same thing.Yang spun around and tried to kick Taiyang but he dodged it. Once he recovered Taiyang threw a punch at Yang which she blocked. Taiyang jumped in the air and tried to kick Yang, but she caught it and threw him aside. Before he had a chance to recover Yan punched him in the gut.
Pyrrha stood on the sidelines and watched the battle. "Great job, Yang!" she shouted. Taiyang looked up holding his arm. "That thing packs a punch!" he exclaimed. "We've been at this for weeks I get it. You wanna make sure I can still fight." Yang said a hit of annoyance showing in her eyes.
Yang banged her fists together before adding "I think I'm doing just fine." "You're close." Taiyang responded walking around Yang. "Oh really." she responded. "Your still off balance." Pyrrha and Taiyang said in unison.
"What?! No I'm not." Yang retorted. Taiyang chuckled lightly. "Honestly kinda surprised." she said looking at her hand "I thought it would be this huge weight but it feels... natural. They did a great job with this thing."
Outta of nowhere Taiyang swung a punch at Yang. Yang narrowly avoided the hit and retaliated. Taiyang blocked
the attack. Yang tried to do the same thing but her father blocked it again. She attempted a kick but Taiyang ducked to avoid it. Yang repeatedly kicked at Taiyang but he blocked all of them. She threw a few punches but he blocked those too. During the last punched he grabbed Yang's robotic arm and used his elbow to keep his daughter from using her other arm.
"I wasn't talking about your actual balance." Taiyang said before kicking one of Yang's legs making her lose her balance and land on her back. "That's gonna leave a mark." Pyrrha muttered as Taiyang came over to her. Zwei gave a towel to Taiyang off the stool.
"Although that could use some work to." Taiyang said before grabbing the towel and petting Zwei on the head. Yang, still laying on the ground, let a sighed before bluntly asking "Meaning?"
"Pyrrha come over here for a second." he said after wiping his face with a towel. Pyrrha just walked over to Taiyang in response. "I saw your torment fights, during the Vatal Festival." he explained.
"Let me guess I was sloppy." Yang said on a mocked voice. Pyrrha just rolled her eyes at her friend. "No, no you were predictable. And stubborn. And maybe a little boneheaded." Taiyang stated.
Yang sat up in response, adjusting her position to look at her father and friend. "Do you realize you used your semblance to win every fight after the qualifiers?" he said sternly. Yang turned away from them before responding. "So what? How is using my semblance any different than someone using theirs." she retorted.
"Because not everyone else's is basically a temper tantrum." Pyrrha pointed out. Taiyang and Pyrrha walked over to Yang. Taiyang kneeled down besides his daughter and let out a chuckle.
"She's serious! Once you take damage you can dish it out twice as hard but that doesn't make you invincible! It's great for when your in a bind but what happens if you miss? What happens if they're stronger? What then? Now you're just weak and tired." Taiyang explained.
"You've always been one to burn brighter than everyone else." he started "Literally." Pyrrha muttered. Taiyang ignored her. "Wether it's with your smile or well... I remember your first haircut." he said lifting up his arm before Yang swatted it away.
"But you gotta keep your emotions in check. Keep a level head and think before you act. Your semblance is a great fall back but you can't let yourself rely on it. It won't always save you, obviously." Taiyang explained.
"Yang remember my fight against Penny?" Pyrrha asked sounding uncomfortable. Yang looked up at her surprised that Pyrrha would talk about that. "Before I accidentally..... killed her, I saw an illusion of hundreds of Penny's swords flying at me." Pyrrha said her voice shaking.
"I let my fear go out of control and that caused Penny to die. I don't want the same thing to happen to you." she said looking at Yang her eyes full of sorrow.
Yang looked at her father as he stated "You definitely have your mom's stubbornness." "Oh, so now we can talk about her." Yang retorted trying to distract herself from Pyrrha's words.
Taiyang faced the direction of a tree nearby before stating "Well, as I have been informed, you're an adult now. Remember?" "Well sorry I remind you of her." the young blonde said annoyed.
"Don't be." Taiyang stated. "Raven was great in so many ways. Her strength, her ambition, her dedication to any cause she thought was worth fighting for." he said before turning around to face Yang.
"I'm proud of how much of her I see in you. But I'm glad I don't see all of her in you." Taiyang stated. "Why?" Taiyang sighed before answering "Your mother was a... complicated women. Like everybody she had her faults but those faults are what tore our team apart. And it did a real number on our family."
"You both act like the easiest way to tackle an obstacle is through it. That strength is all that matters in a fight. But if you just take a second look and maybe you see there is a way around as well." he said.
"Come on." Taiyang said holding his hand out. "One more before dinner." Yang looked at him before grabbing his hand. Taiyang helped Yang up before saying "You too, Pyrrha." Pyrrha looked at Taiyang, clearly feeling awkward after the conversation, and nodded.
