I expected our new house to be average. Average size, average looks, average everything.
I turned out to be quite wrong.
The house was huge, and beautiful and stunning and every positive word I can or can't come up with. Mom told me absolutely nothing about anything. I haven't even met her boyfriend yet, so I don't really know anything about him or his life or his relationship with my mom.
I don't know why she hasn't told me anything about him yet, but I just accepted it as one of her weird ways.
I stepped out of the car and my mouth dropped open. White washed walls, huge windows and an amazing garden. It looked rather modern, but it still had a warm glow and it looked inviting.
Mom got out her keys and opened the front door. The house was even more stunning from the inside. An amazing stairway led up to the first floor. I could look into the kitchen and the living room from the hall. It was breathtaking. It looked clean, but not too clean. It looked like people actually lived here.
I took off my shoes and went into the kitchen. And then the living room. The bathroom. I went up the stairs and opened the first door on the right. A boys room. The room next to that was a girls room. I closed the door and as I did, something in my brain klicked.
"MOM! WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME, THAT DAVE HAS KIDS?!"
No response. I'm not really mad at her for not telling me. A heads-up would have been great, though.
"Sorry, I forgot to tell you. I tought you wouldn't mind." She shouted back up the stairs. I rolled my eyes. Typical.
I sighed and tried to calm down. I hadn't prepared for this. But they weren't home, so there was still time.
"My room has a lock, right?"
"Yes, it does. It's the one straight down the hall on the right!"
Great. I wallked down the hallway and opened the last door on the right.
The room was exactly the way I had imagined it. The walls had a light blue colour, the furniture were white and my desk stood under the window. I could see the whole street and even beyond!
My bed stood on the right, my wardrobe on the left, right next to a white door. Next to the door were white shelves. The floor was made of wood and a pink fur rug was laid out in the middle of the room.
I opened the white door and it revealed my VERY OWN BATHROOM!
I had to admitt. This was turning out to be quite awsome! Well..., except for the kids part.
