Clarke stood, her mouth open as Bellamy drove off. Somehow, she had thought that things between them were going to just be okay now. He knew, he was angry, but he had seemingly forgiven her.
Obviously not.
"Clarke, is everything okay?" Her neighbor, Carter asked.
She sighed, heavily. "Honestly, I don't know. Thank you for checking on me."
He brushed his straight hair back. "Not a problem," he nodded. "Do you--"
Clarke turned as a familiar car pulled into her driveway. Octavia. "Carter, thanks," she smiled. "I'm going to make you that pecan pie this weekend." John smiled widely, nodding and heading inside his house again.
Prepared to talk to Octavia, and even Lincoln, she was taken back when all four of her car doors opened. Raven, Octavia, Lincoln, and Aurora Blake stepped out.
"Uh, hi," Octavia waved. "Surprise?"
Trying her best to ignore everything that had just went on with Bellamy, though that was impossible, she put on a smile to greet everyone.
For hours, Clarke had a fake smile plastered on her lips as she watched Homer interact with everyone. Of course he was delighted, because he got gifts along with this surprise visit.
Bellamy's angry reaction was still clear in her mind, and sadly for her, he hadn't tried to call or text. No matter how much she wanted to go after him, she couldn't do that.
And, he probably didn't want to see her. She was in the wrong for keeping her child a secret. She was very well aware of that fact. But, heaven help her, she had wanted so badly for everything to just be simple between them.
"It's getting late," Octavia smiled. "I think we're all going to get out of your hair."
"Okay," Clarke returned the smile. "It was a very nice surprise, all of you coming by. Uh, his birthday is coming up, so I'll have some invitations sent."
Aurora hugged Clarke, her mouth next to Clarke's ear. "I love you, Clarke. You will always be my girl."
Lincoln hugged her briefly, walking out. Aurora covered Homer in kisses before leaving, too. Octavia promised to come back soon. Raven, waved goodbye to Octavia, locking the door once they left.
"I'll get a ride later," she explained.
Together, the three of them had a late dinner. Homer took a bath, and then fell asleep with Clarke's arms wrapped around him. She looked down at him as he slept, a beautiful combination of herself and Bellamy.
After tucking him into his bed, Clarke played with his hair, briefly. She kissed his little forehead, silently hoping that she hadn't completely ruined things with Bellamy for him.
Raven grabbed two glasses, filling them with wine before walking with Clarke to her bedroom. Together, they sipped in silence.
"So, how is it possible that you managed that fake smile today?" She asked. "You've always sucked at that."
Clarke chuckled. "A lot of practice," she shrugged. "I thought we were okay," she confided in a whisper.
Raven sat her glass next to the bed, wrapping an arm around Clarke's pale shoulders. "Bellamy is going through a lot, Blondie. He was away for years, worrying about you because you moved away and shut everyone out. He didn't know why. He comes back with this wild notion that you two would just pick back up, and he sees that you've got a child," she shrugged.
"Not only that," she continues. "It's his child. Which he had absolutely no idea existed."
"I know," Clarke admitted. "He has every right to be angry with me. I guess.. I guess I just wanted it to be different so badly. He and Homer clicked and he.."
Raven rubbed her arm. "And you slept with him again because you and him are in love, and you couldn't it," she finished. "It's okay to be hurt right now. And it's okay to be in love with him, Clarke. Time doesn't erase feelings when they're that strong and they're meant to be there. You and Bellamy started this love story years and years ago with dislike. And it branched from there to friendship and love. Love is something that most people spend years of their lives searching for. It's what people wrote books about and movies. Don't forget that you have it, Clarke. And you have it with Bellamy. He needs his time to come to terms with this. He is still crazy for you and he can't help himself when you're around. He never has been able to. He needs you. Just, take it easy. Take everything slowly, and allow yourself to feel scared or hurt, and everything else." Raven brushed Clarke's hair to the side, comforting her. "It will all work out. I know it."
Clarke stayed like that with Raven, her head in Ravens shoulder and Raven brushed her hair back. Eventually, the two of them drifted to sleep.
