Mitch had been lying in bed for hours. He couldn't make himself call Beau since he really didn't feel like answering a bunch of questions right now, but he did send a text telling him he loved him and he couldn't wait to see him in a few days. He finally got out of bed around six pm and showered, brushed his teeth, lotioned his skin, and anything else that would keep him busy and make him feel even just the tiniest bit better.

Talking to his parents had convinced him to go and see Scott, but he wasn't sure if he should just show up at his house or call him first or what. He didn't really know where they stood anymore and he didn't want to push any boundaries. When he emerged from his room finally dressed and ready, his mom brought him into a hug and whispered in his ear, "He will be glad to see you", She smiled and kissed his forehead. That was all the encouragement he needed to overcome his apprehension and just go. His dad let him take the car and the drive to Scott's house felt like a bad dream. He hoped everything between him and Scott would be okay.

He parked along the street and sat in the car just staring at the front door. He knew people were in there, he could see the shadows behind the curtains and his stomach was in knots. He slowly got out and took his time, dragging his feet as he walked up the driveway to the porch. With closed eyes, he shrunk down a bit and knocked. The talking inside quieted down a second before he heard a voice say "I've got it". A beat of silence passed before he heard the door unlock and he was sweating bullets with his hands clenched around the ends of his shirt to keep them still. His eyes flung open wide when the door pushed open in front of him.

Mitch's eyes met the soft blue eyes of Scott's sister. The woman smiled and stepped outside to wrap him in a hug. Lauren, thank God. Mitch let out a breath and wrapped his arms around her. She was always so inviting and happy when they were kids and he loved the positive energy that radiated from her. He loved her like a sister of his own and knew she felt the same for him. And it was a plus that she always smells good. Like flowers and home. He relaxed in her arms until she said, "Come on in." They released each other and stepped over the threshold, shutting the door behind them. She rounded the corner into the living room leaving him in the foyer. He couldn't make his feet move. Scott's childhood home looked the same on the inside as far as he could tell. It made him feel good to remember all the nights Scott, Kirstie, and he had in this house.

"Who was at the door, Lauren?" The sound of Scott's voice made his heart pound in his ears.

Mitch slowly stepped around the corner and just stood there while Rick and two other men were chatting on the couch facing the TV. Scott was in plain sight, on the floor with his nephew, teaching him music on some child's instrument. It was obvious he hadn't looked up, but then Lauren cleared her throat to get his attention. Mitch watched Scott as he looked up at his sister from the floor and over to Lauren. Mitch diverted his attention to the ceiling when she pointed his direction and the entire room quieted. He dared to look at Scott but when he went to move his face down, all he could see was a body blocking his view and a felt a large familiar frame wrap around his. He smiled into Scott's chest.

A/N Sorry this chapter ended up so short. When I was dividing up my story this seemed like the best place to cut it. Thanks for reading. Leave a comment on how you think it's going so far and vote if you feel like it!
