"I'm not going home with you." Mitch crossed his arms. Scott froze what he was doing and looked up from his phone. "What happened in there is not okay."
"I know. I'm sorry." Scott looked down at the ground.
Mitch sighed and took a step closer to a frustrated Scott. He grabbed the hand that wasn't holding a phone and put it on his shoulder and placed his hands on Scott's ribs. He looked up at the face above him now. "You are making this incredibly difficult for me. I want to be there for you but you keep pushing me away and I am not sure why. You won't touch me anymore and now other guys can't either apparently and it's not fair. I can't do this back and forth thing. I have never tolerated it in the past and you are no exception. So, please, explain." He raised his eyebrows at Scott's silence.
"Can we please go home? I'll talk when we get there."
"No, Scott, we can't. Talk to me here." Scott didn't reply to that, just furrowed his brows and hung his head. "Okay, you go home and figure out what's going on in your head. I'm going back inside." He turned away from Scott but was stopped from going anywhere with a hand on his wrist. Scott pulled him back gently and leaned in close to his face.
"Please come home to me later then." Scott pressed his lips to Mitch's lightly. "I can't stand the thought of you ending up in someone else's bed. I'm begging you not to go home with someone else." He kissed him over and over, Mitch's resolve slowly breaking away as he melted into Scott. Finally, he was able to turn his head, Scott kissing his cheek instead of his lips.
"Okay. Okay, I'll be home tonight. I promise. But don't wait up for me." Scott nodded and Mitch patted his chest turning to go back inside the club.
When he found Kirstie she was still dancing in the crowd. He grabbed her arm and pulled her off to the side and she yelped. "Mitch, I thought you left with Scott!"
"No, I'm not going to go have sex with him just because he was jealous. He has been treating me like shit the past couple of days. He is confusing as fuck." Kirstie turned to the bartender and ordered four shots.
"He looked absolutely pissed to see you with that other guy. I've literally never seen him like that."
"I know, it's scary Kirst. This whole situation he is in is really doing him in. I want to be there for him but he is making it so hard." Mitch and Kirst grabbed the first shot and threw it back.
"Bleh." She shook her head. "Can you blame him though? With everything that is going on I'm surprised he hasn't gone completely psycho."
"I have to tell you something." He turned to the other shot and pinched his nose as he put it down. Kirstie copied. "A couple days ago, before you got here actually, Scott and I... um..." he laughed nervously. "After we got the bad news about his mom and the night Beau got here actually, well, we almost had sex. I undressed him and let him undress me, but... It didn't go any further than that. He started crying about his mom and now I think he feels awkward about everything. A couple days later and it's like a switch was flipped. He hasn't touched me at all. Barely even a hand hold. Won't even look me in the eyes."
"I could tell something was weird. You just need to go talk to him. He is probably confused with his feelings. He finally gets to be with you, and he wants to be happy, but his mom is dying so he feels guilty." Kirstie shrugged and Mitch nodded his head.
"I wish he would just stop thinking so hard about everything. He is driving himself and everyone around him crazy."
"Yep! That is why we need to get our asses back out on the dance floor!" Mitch smiled at Kirstie's enthusiasm for dancing and allowed her to pull him back out into the crowd.
