"Well, it ain't gonna be me," Tyler says.
"W-what do you mean?" I ask Zander.
"One of us has to die for the others to live, I read about it in a book once."
"But that's not real life," Tyler exclaims.
"Is this exactly real life to you?" Zander asks him.
"This feels like a nightmare!" I add.
"It is a nightmare, Bella," Zander tells me.

I can't believe this is my life right now. Last week I was as happy as a girl can get.
I had a bed.
I had a house.
I had a family.
I had school. Yes, school.
I had my best friends.
And I had a teenage girl life.
This does not feel real.

"Tell us about this sacrifice, Z," Tyler says.
"At midnight, we have to sit inside a circle of twigs and the person who is sacrificing themself will sit outside the circle," Zander tells us.
"For how long?" I ask.
"Three hours," he replies. "After the three hours, that person outside of the circle will pass out and be gone forever, she'd have taken their soul. No one has sacrificed yet, after this, the woods will be clean of bad energy."

Damn.

"But who is going to sacrifice themself?" Tyler asks.
"We could do this, we can all sit outside the circle and she will choose," Zander says.
"That sounds fair," I say.

No, this doesn't sound fair. Nothing about this whole situation is fair.

"So, we'll all sit outside of the circle?" Zander asks.

After a quick moment of silence, Tyler and I look at each other.

"Yes," we say.
