We wake up to the sound of screams.

"What the hell was that?" I say, while sitting up abruptly.
"I can't answer that, B."

I hear footsteps to the right of me. As I go to turn my head, I hear more to the left of me.

"Tyler, we're going to die!" I shout.
"Stop yelling Bella, that will get you killed."
I break down, I miss my bed. I miss my phone, selfish, but it brought me comfort. I miss my parents. I miss my little brother, Joey.

Oh, little Joey.

Joey was the little brother of a sister's nightmares, but I loved him even if he drove me insane.

"Wouldn't my mom have called the cops by now?" I turn to Tyler.
"I-I don't know Bella. She might have thought you slept over or something, I'm sure we'll be out of here by afternoon," he assures me.

I could tell he was upset, too. Not because he's stuck in the woods, but because he brought me here. That's how Tyler is.

"Should we walk around? We might have better luck today," I say.
"Yeah," Tyler responds.

After sitting on top of the pile of leaves for a while, we finally get up, ready to escape these woods.

Tyler grabs his jacket, since we had slept on it. We are off to find that damn gate.

...

We walk to where we believe the gate is, but everything is still so mirrored. Why? It seems impossible.

I'm lagging behind Tyler. I let him take the lead. I trust him.

Everything seems normal, okay, not normal, but you know what I mean. Like I was saying, it seems normal, until I hear more screams behind me. I swing around and I see a ghostly figure for a literal second before it disappears.

Tyler had turned around, too. I'm not sure if he saw what I saw, though.

"Did you flipping see that?" I ask.
"No, I only turned because I couldn't hear the crunching of the leaves from behind me anymore. Why? What did you see?" He asks.

"I-I think I saw a ghost, I'm not sure," I respond.
"Are you sure it's not just paranoia?"

I pause for a moment.

Keeping myself calm and collected, I respond, "I think you're right, but didn't you hear the screams?"
"No, Bella, I'm concerned for your mentality right now."

Tyler really does not call me by my name, unless he is irritated by something. He is most definitely irritated by me.

Besides that, I can understand why he didn't see what I saw.

But how did he not hear what I heard?
