Table for Two?

Sprawled out on the wooden table which had been partially masked with a velvet tablecloth, was an eclectic mix of rose petals.She is such a hopeless romantic Rana thought gleefully.The bistro looked different in this light, transformed it had gone from the hustle and bustle of lunch hour milling with customers into a sequestered restaurant taken from the midsts of Pariś itself.The mere subduing of the lights made this possible, well that and Kate.Zeedan was incapable of this, such a grand gesture was incomprehendable for him.Conversly, his idea of a romantic date was a takeaway in front of the tv but Kate,she had well and truly captured Rana's heart like a thief in the night.

Gittering nervously whilst Rana walked through the door, Kate was unable to remain still, she just wanted to run up to Rana and feel her soft, dulcet skin once again.The pair locked eyes on each other, no words were exchanged, there didn't need to be.Their souls were intwinned, like a needle and string together working in unison, they were matching set, impotent to co exsist without being together.

"So what do you think?"Kate asked cheekily as she gestured to Rana her resplendent arrangement.Unable to help herself, Rana grinned to such an extent she could have gave the Cheshire cat a run for his money.Hurring towards her, Kate sweeped behind her dragging the chair on the floor to allow Rana to be seated.

Filled with laughter, there was an aura of ambiance which filled the air.As the evening progressed, wine glasses were clinked and hands were held so tightly there was an indication the pair were never going to let go of each other.Both had so much they needed to say, endless thoughts whizzed around their minds, but all reached the same conclusion.They were forbidden even doomed to be together.However, in this moment nothing else mattered, the harsh reality wouldn't stop them.Tonight they would stop resisting, tonight they would harness their love.

In a moment,this was brought down to an abrupt ending.The latch on the door was being fought against, the door knob slowly but surely turned.Flushed with unease,Rana dived under the table taking Kate with her.Cowering under the table, they heard the harsh steps of black boots.Kate's need of clarity counterpoised her fear of being caught and so she glanced up to the figure.She saw a looming figure like a shadow dancing around the room, the figure nimbly headed for the till.With an abrupt pull they prised the register open and like a net swooping into a school of fish, the thief clasped as many £10, £20 and even £50 bills they could.

Overcome with a seething rage, Kate lept up despite Rana remaining hidden.Still unbeknowing to the figure, she snatched an empty beer bottle from the bar and hit the intruder with a monumental blow causing the bottle to shatter on impact.Shards of glass flecked the floor.Agape,Rana watched worryingly as Kate's balance was compromised.It all happened so expeditiously that both Kate and Rana could not comprehend what to do next.The figures head was drooped like a limp puppet without a puppetmaster.Despite the thief's obvious pain, made apparent by the despair of their terrified eyes and speckles of blood rushing down their face, the figure was composed enough to flee.The door was flung open and the figure merged into the dark night.

Without hesitation, Kate ran to Rana whom had sprung up to embrace her.Terrfied by the ordeal, Kate let out a laboured exhale realising in that moment she had so much to lose.Rana caressed Kate's hair in an attempt to calm her down,she too for a fleeting moment acknowledged that the person she loved could have been taken from her.She felt a sickness overwhelm her, the thought of a converse situation elucidated her feelings entirely."Go home" Kate spoke "You can't have been here. I will call the police.Please go." The star crossed lovers were once again torn away from each other's comfort throw into a future of uncertainty.
