Awoken by the deafening blaring of the alarm clock, Kate reached for the snooze button, still half asleep. After doing so, she tugged back at the blanket which covered her and glanced over to Rana's side of the bed.Horrified to see Rana was nowhere to be seen, Kate jumped up.Throwing on her dressing gown she ventured out of the bedroom, her heart beating anxiously.Instantaneously, she was greeted by Rana, whom sat, cooly sipping a cup of espresso coffee reading the paper in her silk satin caftan."Morning."Rana said effortlessly as she tossed back her brushed black locks."Morning beautiful" Kate replied as she sighed in relief."Hey, you ok?"Rana said as she approached Kate, her hand caressing Kate's cheek as she gazed into her beautiful azure eyes.Everytime she locked eyes with Kate she was transported. It was like time had stopped. The sand in the hourglass had ran away. The clock had forgotten them and all the room one glow because time was absent and she was there.Rana's breath was laboured as they became in touching distance of each other. As Rana continued to stare, her lips curved into a smile, her dimples pierced her face like a film lid.She had never been happier than she was with Kate.Likewise, everytime Kate saw Rana it was like she was falling in love with her for the very first time; Her tenacity, boldness and empathy for others was something that Kate loved so much it pained her heart. As she felt the touch of Rana's hand, her whole body went numb.

"Ready for today?"Rana questioned as she proceeded back to the kitchen, readily grabbing the pan to make Kate her breakfast. As she heated up the sizzling oil, Kate replied back to her "You mean Michelle's and Robert's wedding?"
"Uh huh" Rana said, as she cracked the egg on the side of the pan."I just don't know if we should go....It's just Robert wasn't exactly our biggest supporter, was he now?"Kate sighed."Well, as always" Rana began as she turned to Kate "we will face this together".This profusely surprised Kate and also incited a deep appreciation for Rana's courage. She had grown so strong within the past weeks ever since her parents had disowned her, she had become so resilient.Months ago they were cowering in alleys, scared to break the hearts of those around them, utterly terrified of the consequences of their love. However, now they were inseperable and it was clear Rana no longer wanted to hide this."Here you go" Rana said satified, as she placed down the plate in front of Kate and kissed her cheek amorously. "Enjoy your omelette" she whispered in her ear before straying off to the bathroom. "I will.Thank you." she hollered before adding: "Oh, and why were you up so early by the way?"
"Well."Rana replied, as she poked her head around the bathroom door, toothbrush still in her mouth."It's Emily. We've bearly seen her in these past 3 weeks. She's been so focused on Luke's case, it's like she's been living at that police station. I'm just worried."
Kate was quick to reply:"That's the thing with Emily. She's a workaholic. She can't help it.Ever since Amy......"
"Amy?"Rana queried.
"Look, maybe I shouldn't say anything. Its still a touchy subject for Emily. She's over the whole abandonment from her parents kind of thing but Amy is another matter."
"Well, I won't pry....but it's not fair if she was your friend too.You should be able to talk about her if you like."After some deliberation, Kate sat Rana down and began to tell her about Amy."Me,Emily and Amy used to be best friends" Kate began."Me and Emily were inseparable as friends but her and Amy well, that was another story.....

The year was 2009 three girls strode through the halls of Hollywell High. Kate was always the cool one;with all her piercings and not even caring what people thought of her even despite her lackluster school dress code that consisted of a loosely done up tie and a shirt that hung tucked out of her skirt. The complete converse was Emily whom stood in the middle, linking the arms of the two girls next to her.The trio were the envy of everyone they came into contact with.At first, the friendship wasn't always perfect.Initally, Amy and Kate were sworn enemies as despite
Amy's unmistakable beauty, she had a nasty streak and bullied the more vulnerable school members.Kate abhorred this and continually confronted and fought with her but it was Emily who came to the rescue. It was her kind and empathetic nature that won Amy over, she was the one to have discovered a soft hearted, concious person hidden behind the monster. After years of proving she was a better person as a result of Emily, Amy became good friends with both girls.Even with their disagreements, Amy and Kate could both agree that Emily was special. She had no inclination that she was even as popular or pretty as she was.Nor how important she was.Her modesty was something Amy couldn't comprehend; becoming Head girl, Captain of the Netball Team and achieved everything she strove for. Yet Emily still continued to go to book club with the sci fy fanatics, she still organised and lead both the art and feminist clubs and hung out with the jocks (beating them at basketball on most occasions).Amy couldn't help falling for her.She was incredible.

It was a Friday night, the party of the year was underway at the house of the coolest and most crushed on boy in the year: Mateo Matthews. He had a boyish smile which complimented his Olive skinned complection and a laugh that made all the girls swoon. However, he only had eyes for Emily. He anticipated the days that she would rock up to their basketball training and school all the mysognistic boys at their own game.As Kate rang the Mateo's door, Amy crossed her arms and tutted, mildly irritated at the poor hosting thus far."Got your eye on anyone tonight Kate? Any boys we know?" Amy enquired. At this Kate and Emily chuckled trying desperately to hold in their laughter."Fine.Don't tell me." Amy declared as she barged in the door which had been opened by a already tipsy Mateo. "Welcome to my humble abode, please come in!"He declared as he gestured at his magnificent manison.Locking eyes on each other, Mateo gave Emily a flirtacious smile and then lead Kate by the hand into the party.

A few hours had past and the relentless mind numbing house music was giving Amy a headache. Kate was nowhere to be seen so she decided to search for Emily, her more favourable option. There she found her, dancing and singing at the top of her lungs whilst laughing with school friends whom adorned her.At this sight, Amy became filled with envy, her cheeks became flushed and her fists clenched.Out of the corner of her eye, Emily had noticed this, she could pick up on any tiny thing and this: the look on Amy's face was something she was certainly not going to miss.Storming upstairs, Amy dodged couples making out, disgusted she pushed each one of them out of her way until she found the bathroom in where she began to cry."Hey." A tentative voice called out.
A pair of hands were placed on her shoulders. It was Emily. She leaned her head on Amy's neck and tried to comfort her to the best of her ability. No words were needed. As much as Emily liked Mateo, he just wasn't Amy.The connection the pair had was electric, it was always Amy that was the one to try to deny the fact. But no longer.Under the dim flickering bathroom light, she moved in to kiss Emily.Amy's lips longed for the touch of Emily's and vice versa. The rest of the night after that Amy and Emily had spent together, they had walked under the blanket of the night and the onlook of the moon and stars followed them home.

"After that they were unseparable"Kate said."Me, well I had hooked up with a girl Lou Langsfield, I'd been crushing on her forever and Em scored me her number but I didn't find out about what happened that night with Amy and Emily until weeks later.By then they were really in love, like everything they had been burrowing inside had been brought to the surface like..."
"Like us you mean?"Rana added teasingly.Kate replied with a nod and a smile but paused slighted before continuing her story. It was like she was hesitant. She hadn't told anyone else, she hadn't trusted them like she trusted Rana."So come on, you've got me hooked. What happened next?" Rana quizzed.Glancing up at the clock, Kate rose up from her chair; "Is that the time?! God, I better get ready. Look I'll tell you later eh? At the party, yeah?Let's get through the ceremony and then I swear I will."Kate teased as she out her arms around Rana before prising herself off to the bedroom.
