Chapter 5
There was a sudden cough coming from Aiden's side. A small little girl peeked beside him. She coughed again trying to get both Siren and Aiden's attention.
"Cierra, is that you?" Aiden muttered, rubbing his eyes to check who the little girl was.
"Yes, it's me. Who is that girl with you?" Cierra pointed towards Siren, curiosity filled her hazel brown eyes.
"This is Siren. Siren meet Cierra our youngest member," Aiden smiled, looking at Siren then Cierra.
Siren peered at the little girl. She had long wavy light blond hair just beneath the back of her thighs and wore a white dress that covered most of her shoulders and falls smoothly below her knees.
"Hello," Siren moved away, afraid that the little girl would catch her disease.
As if Cierra read her thoughts, she shook her head repeating the words "No," with her tiny voice.
"You're not infected Siren. Don't be scared," Cierra took Siren's hands and placed it on a metal detector used to discover if a person has Andromeia.
Siren glanced at Aiden giving him an intrigued look.
Aiden shrugged and whispered closely at Siren's ears. "You'll know why later,"
They walked through the entire Zin underground, hallways and passageways, smooth metal floors and white walls left untouched. There were small round circular disks drilled into the ground leaving bright luminescence, gleaming artificial lights in every corner.
Siren felt odd and peculiar as she focused around the bright place. It was cold underground but warmer than above outside the freezing night. She could hear still voices coming from atop as they neared the entrance door.
The door looked like an enormous rusty metal with a corroded handle placed out of nowhere. It didn't fit in much with the clean white walls surrounding it.
Cierra reached over the handle; to Siren's surprise it opened leaving falling tarnished steel on the floor. Cierra grunted as she pushed the heavy door. It made a soft roar as it creaked open.
The inside made Siren feel more intrigued than ever. There were whiter walls than outside, soft carpet made of thick woven fabric sat in every corner, technologies and computers were everywhere, doors cracked open to reveal rooms filled with nothing but technological machinery and the lights radiated brightly divulging the impressive sight.
"How do you find electricity necessary to run this place?" Siren glanced over her surroundings, the unfamiliar technologies around her and the beeping sounds of typing people, busily sorting out the operations.
"We borrowed it," Cierra smirked, nodding her head down on a narrow path. "This way."
People came in and out of the technology filled rooms, they wore the same shirt as Aiden and had the similar eye tattoo attached to the side of their necks. Siren wondered what that meant and glanced quickly on Cierra who had a half eye tattoo left undone. Some of the people noticed the newcomer walking on their path but many were too busy to notice.
"Why do they all wear white?" Siren whispered closely to Aiden, a little too soft for anyone to hear.
"It's kinda like a uniform here, white means purity and freedom," Answered Aiden. "You're gonna learn a lot from here but.." Aiden was cut off by Cierra's soft cough. "First you have to meet Clint," Cierra said.
They headed through a big glass filled room and in the centre was an empty space, there sat a wooden table and 2 wooden chairs that faced each other, another thing that didn't quite fit with everything.
"He'll come out soon enough. We have to leave," Cierra said walking away from the crystal room.
"Goodluck," Aiden smiled and followed Cierra.
A man went in, moving slowly as he looks around his surrounding. Impressed by his work he smiled but kept a mask of optimism. He glanced at Siren and sat on the front of the room. Siren noticed a silver streak of hair tucked beneath his golden hair. He looked oddly similar to Cierra because of his dark curious brown eyes.
"Hello, you must be?" He peers at Siren, open mouthed waiting for Siren's answer.
"Siren Dagger,"
"Siren. I'm Clinton, the leader of this underground headquarters. Welcome," He smiled. He had the same tranquil smile that reminded Siren so much of her father. "You must be here for a reason of course and I hope it must be something important. Who sent you here?"
"Aiden Walter, sir." Siren answered.
"Ohh Aiden. Such a good boy, do you know him from before?" Interest came popping out of his deep voice.
"Yes. He was my friend since childhood." Siren said. If she wasn't meeting someone with high power she would have laughed at him stating Aiden to be "such a good boy.".
"So, What is your reason for being here Siren?" Clinton asked.
"I need to know where my parents are. You see they've been taken away by The Order and…" Siren stopped when Clinton raised his hand to silence her.
Clinton started typing on his computer and at a blink of an eye his phone started ringing.
"Hello…Yes…Send me a file about Siren Dagger please," Clinton said still typing words on his computer. In an instant there was a short beep coming out of the computer's flickering screen. "Ah. Here it is," He muttered to himself, his eyes reading the words on his computer.
"An interesting one, Aiden brought here," He smiled. "I'm sorry to hear about your family's malady but based on the explanation typed here on my data there seems to be something intriguing about your parents. It says here, that The Order is taking your parents somewhere beyond the walls of Zin, a top secret location called 'Zen' "
Siren gasped as millions of thoughts jumbled in her head.
