Chapter 8

The wall slowly opened, divulging a path full of white written papers scattered throughout the floor. It was impossible to avoid stepping on a piece because the whole place was packed with nothing but thin sheets of paper.

Siren stepped forward, hearing a faint crumple as she made her way to the center of the room. She leaned down closely and scanned the floor for any information regarding why these papers were scattered out of no where.

"Guys! Look at this!" Aiden shouted, holding a piece of paper.

The group rushed their way to Aiden's side not minding the crushed and wrinkled papers on the floor. They peeked beside Aiden as they took a look on what the written paper had to say. Siren heard a small grunt right behind her and felt a soft touch on the side of her arm.

Cierra was trying her best to look up, her heals raised slightly along with her toes pointed on the floor as it carried her weight from her feet. After seeing her tired effort, Siren moved slowly towards Cierra, her arms wide open attempting to carry her but just as she would Lucas moved steadily and approached Cierra as he carried her gently on his arms.

"Lucas might not be as cold as I thought he would be." Siren thought to herself thinking how Lucas never showed any emotion or spoken a single word.

"It looks like a diary of someone who knew about the ancient history of Zianada." Aiden informed, reading the words below. "My Ideals and aspirations for building the walls was because of my interest on the disease known as Andromeia. I wanted to further investigate about how this disease would affect the people knowing that the other side of the wall was filled with malady. Whether they would help each other or cause chaos inside the wall." Aiden's voice stopped, his mouth wide open as his eyes scanned for more.

"So the whole Zianada was built for that reason?" Cierra spoke, her tone mixed with anxiety and fear.

"That's not right. The Order taught us that Tiamus wanted to prevent us from having Andromeia." Aiden answered, thinking hard for an explanation.

"There must be more." Aiden continued as he searched for information. His hands plough to the floors as he frantically hunts the pile of papers. Cierra did the same and her little hands were piling notes penetrating on the endless stack of papers.

"Here!" Cierra exclaimed as she handed Aiden another piece of paper to read.

He scanned the paper and nodded slowly to Cierra as he read the paper with a clear voice. "It has gone well so far. The whole Zin is doing their best to survive despite knowing that the other side is filled with diseased people. They even made a group to provide order for Zin they call themselves 'The Order' they are a bit cruel but they do their best to survive. After a few months of wasting time just watching, I sent a group of people who knew about the truth. Well… not everything they know was true. We brainwashed the volunteers into believing that they had valuable information to share and as soon as we landed them into the second wall they started teaching people, informing them about me as their hero. They told them that I wanted to protect them from Andromeia and it was the reason why I built the walls." There was a small space that cut off a few sentence but continued with this. "The people of Zin are so gullible believing every word they say. I now understand how they would do anything to survive even believing lies that I saved them. I never wanted to protect them from the disease, I just wanted to complete my research."

"Stop." Siren muttered, taking the paper right off Aiden's hand and tore it into shreds.

"What are you doing Siren?" Cierra shouted as she tried to fix the shredded pieces on the floor. After a hopeless retrieval she sighed and covered her face with her tiny hands.

"We don't need to know this. This isn't the reason why we started this whole journey." Siren cried out, hoping that the others would listen.

"This is information Siren! This is what the headquarter needs!" Cierra yelled, her soft voice echoed through the passage way. Tears fell down her face as she stuttered the words "This could save us." She peered through Siren's miserable eyes as if pleading for her to listen.

Siren felt her heart stabbed by a sharp dagger. She was sorry for making Cierra cry like this but at the same time felt exasperated at how everything turned out this way. Moving slowly, Siren carefully touched Cierra's cold shoulder and leaned closer to embrace her.

She felt the small stature of Cierra's thin framed body and her soft blond locks brushing her icy cheek. Her rosy fragrance made her feel as if they're growing bond was shattering slowly. She thought of how small and frail Cierra was to be taken into such a frightening place, how hard it was for her to experience so much unfortunate events at a young age like her.

"I'm sorry." Siren whispered softly in her ear as she wiped off the tears falling down her cheek.

Cierra glanced at her and a smile formed on her scarlet face as she rubbed her swollen eyes. A sudden hoarse cough broke out, breaking the tension between the two.

"Guys… I think you should take a look at this." Aiden muttered, his hands shook furiously as he held a thin paper. He looked as if the paper was so fragile that a tiny move would make it break and fall into bits.

Cierra and Siren glanced at each other, a questioning mark on their faces as they quickly make their way to Aiden. As if on call, Lucas was suddenly beside him even faster than the girls running.

Aiden with great precaution lifted the paper so the others would see. Siren let out a loud gasp as her eyes widened in disbelief. A stammering voice was all that Cierra could say. The note had a mark of huge black letter words that would make anyone tremble in astonishment.
