Chapter 7

The ceiling suddenly cracked making the fallen cement break the ground below. The ground furiously shaked as if woken by Siren's gentle touch. The noise from the quake was ear shattering together with the sounds of their battering heart numbing their every move. In an instant a huge piece of fallen cement almost crushed the group below nearly inches from their demise. As if suddenly woken from their immobility Aiden shouted "This way!" as he ran into the left path. After a moment of disbelief the group frantically dashed to follow him.

When they were finally inside the left path, they watched quietly as the passageway break and fall into pieces. The rocks plummeted down cracking the cement below and the once leaking pipes was now gone and shattered into bits. The loud noise from the quake left the group shocked with how easy it took for everything to break down.

Siren felt Cierra tugged herself behind her. She slowly knelt down towards her - who covered her ears with her trembling hands. She understood her terrified expression as her heart striked her pounding chest. She sensed her rapid breathing and trembling voice as she patted her shoulder to give her a reassuring smile.

"Where's Lucas?" Aiden yelled, looking around him frantically to find Lucas.

Siren suddenly remembered Lucas standing still as the fallen rocks crushed the cement. He was left alone inside the breaking path. She readied herself to sprint out of the pavement. Her eyes focused on the near exit. Aiden called her name aloud but Siren ignored it.

She ran out of the bright path to find Lucas panically taking out rocks from the middle path. His hands trembled as he took out rocks to clear out the way. His nails digged deep while his knees quiver in fear. Despite all the attempts the path was still covered by enormous rocks blocking the way.

"Lucas!" Siren called, touching Lucas's shoulder. Her usual soft voice was now replaced by a hoarse tone.

Lucas turned around to look at Siren with his dark eyes pleading for help. Immediately taken aback from his request, she snapped and an instant adrenaline rushed through her veins as she pushed the crushed rocks out of the way. Lucas and Siren both grunted as they heaved a giant rock, clearing the way. With great effort the pathway finally had enough space to go through.

Siren suddenly jumped when Aiden called her name. "Ren! What were you thinking?" Aiden shouted as he held Cierra tight in his arms. Panic and fear could be visibly seen in both of their eyes. Their knees and hands wobbled in agitation.

"This way!" Siren shouted as she ran into the small hole holding Lucas's hand to help her in. While she squeezed herself in the small opening a tiny but sharp rock gashed Siren's knees letting her cry out in pain. She kicked the tiny rock out of the path's way.

Siren let out both of her arms waiting for Cierra to come in. She carried Cierra into the path and safely landed her with Lucas. Her trembling body made Lucas's arms shake. Suddenly the pathway tremored as newly crushed rocks were taking place to block the middle entrance. Siren reached out for the rocks as it jammed the opening shut. She squinted her eyes in pain as the falling rocks crushed her tiny and fragile hands. She kicked the rocks out of her hands and finally made a small entrance for Aiden to fit in.
