The red light flickered every now and then, blinking the rest of the time. Hoseok's eyes were trained on his patient, the camera next to him being less than a distraction.
"Log number one, 12 September 2016. Patient: Min Yoongi."
"I'm Dr Jung, here to ask you a few questions."
"Go on."
"Your files say that you tended to sleepwalk during the period of the deaths of five people. Do you remember anything about your condition?"
"If I did, I wouldn't be here. I'd be in Daegu, rotting in a cell."
"Alright. So you admit you killed those people?"
"They told me I did. I assumed I did. I was delirious. I woke up in the goddamn jail with blood on my hands."
"You don't believe you killed them?"
"I don't know what the hell to believe, but since no one would believe me in court anyway, I mean there was no proof, I decided to plead guilty and requested they run a test. Then I ended up in this place."
"How did you end up at the station?"
"Apparently I turned myself in."
Hoseok wondered if his expression showed how confused he was. The clipboard's questions seemed to bring him nowhere.
The junior glanced back at Namjoon for help, to which his senior just pointed to the clipboard.
"Look, I'm here because they want me to remember what I did so they can charge me. You're literally helping a criminal if you don't get me fixed."
"Have you at least tried to recall the events that happened?"
"Trust me, I have. Every single time it's the same thing: purple neon lights of some store I can't make out, a knife, and just endless walking. Doesn't change."
The patient leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms.
"Do you know who you killed, though?"
"Me? I don't know. But the court seems to know. I've been told that I killed my sister, parents, and two cousins."
The brutally honest words lingered stale in the air as Hoseok glanced down at his clipboard of questions, clueless as to how Yoongi could just say that. It was such a casual sentence as if he hadn't killed half his family.
"Alright. So you killed five of your family members, but you don't remember anything apart from the sign, walking, and knives?"
"Actually now that you put it like that, it sounds utterly pathetic and unbelievable. But yes."
"Alright."
"Log number one, 12 December 2016, ended."
The dumbfounded junior resident's hand pressed down on the red button, and the blinking light stopped.
