Apart from Namjoon being appalled by Hoseok accepting the job, there were no other complications that day. Hoseok was briefed about the patients, what to do around them, how to behave.
And then there were the guards.
They stood by the front of the hospital (Hoseok had entered by the back door, completely missing them)guarding and scanning people up and down.
Hoseok felt like he was working at a maximum security hospital.
He wasn't allowed into the wards until his mentor had finished briefing him, which, by then, was already the end of the day.
The minute he got home, he dropped his bag on the floor and flopped down on the couch, pressing his entire body into the soft material.
His mind was racing with thoughts.
Serial killers. In a hospital. That he was going to work at.
If he'd told him a month ago that he'd be a doctor at an institution that served convicted murderers, he would start cackling.
The next time he stepped into the hospital, Namjoon was at the door waiting for him, speaking to another doctor. He had striking crow-black hair and had the face of what Hoseok could only describe as unreal. A pink dress shirt poked out from underneath his white coat.
"Hoseok!" Namjoon greeted cheerily when he saw the other. He almost thought that the new guy would run away.
"This is Kim Seokjin, a fellow resident. He's in ER at the East Wing." he pointed to the person he was speaking to, and a smile appeared on Seokjin's face as he stuck his hand out.
Hoseok took it.
"Jung Hoseok. Uhh, West Wing."
"We should go," Namjoon said, gesturing to Hoseok. "See you around, Dr Kim."
With that, he dragged his clueless junior resident along, face turning beet red within seconds.
"We have an ER?" was the first thing Hoseok asked when his mentor stopped walking like his life depended on it.
"Yes. And Seokj- Dr Kim is the head there."
"You have a crush on him."
Namjoon's face immediately turned red again.
"No, I don't! I don't condone work relationships!"
"Your face can battle the tomatoes in the organic section of a supermarket."
"And your face needs to get to work. Follow me."
The junior resident felt a smirk creep up his face at the denied allegations, and began trailing behind Namjoon, who stopped at the front counter.
"I need the papers for 039, please," Hoseok heard him say to the nurse. She handed him a clipboard, which Namjoon shoved into the junior's hands.
"Your patient is Min Yoongi. 24 years old, from Daegu Max. Killed 5 people in one go. Alleged sleepwalker," the mentor looked back as he continued to walk. Hoseok was peering down at the papers.
"Your job is to help him correct it. Though I think there isn't really any good way to help him."
They'd arrived at 039.
"Tap your keycard at that sensor there." Namjoon nodded his head towards a black card sensor on the other side of the door.
Hoseok held the clipboard close and tapped, the metal doors sliding open once he did.
The boy had seen his fair share of hospitals, but none with rooms like the one he was in.
Two guards stood at the sides of the door once they were inside, holding out a device to scan them. Once they were cleared, they were allowed into the actual ward.
It was rather bright inside the hospital room, white light spilling in from the two rectangular windows on either side. A bed rested by the window on the right, accompanying two chairs by a table in the centre of the room.
Nothing else. The rest was empty white space.
The colour was contrasted by a single black haired head of the patient, who was seated on a chair.
His head was cocked to the side, staring, squinting, at Hoseok and Namjoon.
"Refer to your clipboard for more info. I'll be here. Go get 'em," whispered the senior resident, patting the junior on his back.
Hoseok actually felt trepidation course through him, every limb starting to shiver. His patient, Min Yoongi, the raven-haired man, continued questioning him with hazel eyes. He looked like nothing near a psychopathic murderer.
The junior resident took in a deep breath, as he set the clipboard down on the table and pulled out the other chair, keeping his gaze on the patient the whole time.
Yoongi kept staring.
