"Who?"
"The blonde one. I think I've seen him somewhere."
Hoseok stopped in front of 039, halting in his steps. Yoongi looked up at him when he'd stopped walking, too. They'd gone back in silence, mainly because of whatever tension and unresolved questions both had.
"You mean Taehyung?"
"If that's what his name is, maybe. I remember a face, but not a name," he muttered, eyes darting back and forth.
Yoongi wasn't very sure of the name of whoever he saw, but he could definitely remember the face. It was from somewhere. He was from somewhere.
The patient could see how Hoseok's face was slightly scrunched up, as if he was in deep thought. About Taehyung. Whoever he was, he probably mattered to the doctor.
"I'm not very sure, it's just a vague memory," his voice got softer, gentler, making Hoseok snap his head up in attention, diverting from his wandering thoughts. "Just don't take my words for the truth, okay?"
Hoseok knew it was an attempt at assurance, but perhaps he wanted to take it literally-too literally- though he couldn't bring himself to say anything.
It was quiet in the hallway, apart from the breathing of the two and the guard. It made Yoongi too aware of the hesitation, the reluctance that he just knew Hoseok felt.
After all, he was a patient. He was sick in all the ways Hoseok wasn't. Trusting him would be like trusting a person on the execution stand. Yoongi was just a crazy person who didn't even know if he killed his own family. Yoongi was just a crazy person who didn't deserve anyone like Hoseok helping him.
"Good night, Hoseok," he murmured, turning before the other could speak.

His mind was a mess. An outright, absolute, mess.
A mess of thoughts, a mix of problems, a bunch of dilemmas shaken into a nice, deadly milkshake for Hoseok to down.
He'd always thought that, if he turned and tossed around his bed enough, he could find the perfect spot to think. To find the answer.
And thus, he ended up doing exactly that, making him end up with his legs propped up on the headboard and crossed over one another, the other half of his body resting on the somewhat soft mattress.
He hadn't ended up in such an awkward position since college when he was stuck constantly trying to memorise types of organs and motor neurons.
That showed him the case was definitely messing with his mind. Big time.
Hoseok felt like he had people in his head- people fighting for dominance about their opinion, trying to justify whatever they were saying. He knew that the people were always in his head, since he was born, probably, but they never helped him much. They just did their jobs to make him more distracted and confused with himself. For example, when he was discovering what the strange feeling he felt when looking at a certain classmate was. One voice told him it was just a helpless crush, somebody he liked but who didn't like him back. The other voice told him it was because he was incorrigibly attracted to guys, which made him strange. And weird. And bad.
Perhaps his perception of things back then weren't the best.
They were back at it again, the people in his mind. This time talking about who to trust, about what Yoongi had told him, about Yoongi, in general.
A patient won't be truthful to you if they're desperate to leave, one said.
Hoseok sat up on his bed, feeling dizzier as the blood rushed to his head.
But Yoongi seemed like he was telling the truth. another voice retorted.
Maybe he's not. How well do you even know him?
How well do you even know Taehyung, too?
Well, enough to know he isn't a murderer.
And Yoongi is?
I don't know, maybe? You don't even know him that well.
I'm sure you've seen more of Yoongi than of Taehyung.
"Oh my god, stop talking, will you?" Hoseok knocked at his head, slamming his palm gently on the side just to stop the voices inside from going off at each other.
I don't think you can even trust anyone at this point, a third voice interfered and shut the others up, unless you manage to get another external clue as to what really happened.
Either that, or one of them slips up.
