Hopper and I just talk and discuss normal topics like normal people. And I love that. He doesn't treat me like I am insane, or like I am some crazy criminal. "Well kid, it has been lovely talking with you, but I should get back to duty", he states getting up from his chair. " Yea sure, go ahead I state", putting the coffee mug down. I make sure to hide my sleeves and make sure not to show my wrists because is Hopper ever saw what I did to myself, he would really think I was crazy. I give him a quick nod and smile, as I watch him leave the office. I stand up, and decide to leave. As I am about to exit the office, I see a pack of cigarettes laying on his office desk, and I decide to take them.
Why not? I mean, they help me relax.I quickly jog back to my cell, feeling a cold breeze throughout the hallway. I open the door, to see Finn laying on his bed looking up at the ceiling. "Finn? What are you doing?" "Oh, um just thinking." He responds, as I just shrug. I decide to take the pack of cigarettes out of my one pocket in my orange jumper, and decide to smoke one.
Damn it, I forgot a lighter. Really Millie? You are so stupid.
"Millie where did you get those?" Finn questions with eyebrows raised. "Hopper's Office." I simply respond. "Let me guess, you don't have a lighter? Rookie mistake", he says with a light chuckle, causing me to roll my eyes playfully. "What? You can't expect me to be on the ball with everything", I add with sass in my voice. "Listen Mills, I am not stupid. I am always prepared", he says reaching his hand beneath the white mattress, grabbing a blue lighter. "I smoke too", he adds, throwing the lighter to me. "Well come on dummy, let's smoke then", I say, gesturing for him to come to my side of the room, as I hand him the cigarette. He inhales the cancer stick chemicals, and puffs them out. He slightly coughs, and pushes the smoke out of the way while doing so. "What's the matter? Have you never smoked?", I say smirking. "No you stupid, I haven't smoked in about 3 years." He says lightly chuckling. "Well then why was the lighter there?" I say, already confused and wondering if this is his first time smoking. "I told you, I'm always prepared." He says putting the cigarette back between his lips. "Whatever Finnie", I say rolling my eyes. "Don't call me that you idiot", Finn says playfully pushing me. We just laugh and smoke, as I begin to relax, and enjoying having Finnie as my cell buddy."Dinner Time!", I hear Hopper's voice say through the metal door. "Shit, I'm not hungry", I say sighing. "Me neither, but hey, maybe you can meet my friends." He says trying to lighten my mood. "Ugh fine", I say as we both get up off the bed, and begin to leave the cell.
We make it to the lunchroom, and I let Finn lead the way. He slightly pulls me while holding my hand through the crowd of people, and we finally make it to the table.
Wow his hand is soft and mine fits perfectly into his...
Stop it Millie! You DO NOT like him.
My thoughts are interrupted by a hand waving in my face. "Hellooo?Millie?", Finn asks, As I slightly not my head waiting for him to continue. He clears his throat, and points to the table. "Well, Millie, these are my friends", he says, smiling while everybody in the table nods. I nod back, and give a heart warming smile. Then, he points to a red head with pretty long hair. "This is Sadie, the brains of the grou-, no way! I am you dip shit!", Finn is interrupted my a boy who looked a little older than us. "Okay whatever dude. Millie, this is Caleb." I slightly laugh, seeing a dark curly haired boy devour his chocolate pudding. "Slow down Gaten, that's disgusting!", Sadie yells shielding her eyes. "This is Gaten, as you probably already heard, and just in case you didn't know already, he loves chocolate pudding", Finn adds making me laugh. "And last but not least, we have our Noah!", Finn says, causing Noah to meet my eyes. They are so red. Has he been crying? He smiles, even though I know it's fake. I always know, because I always fake smile. We begin to laugh and talk about random things, Gaten almost chokes on his putting because of a joke Caleb made, and Sadie and Caleb argued about who was smarter and less likely to get killed here. Its adorable. I ship it.
Yet, Noah was still quiet. While everyone, including Finn, went off into different conversations and arguments, I decided to ask Noah what was wrong. Hey Noah, what's wrong?", I say with sympathy, putting my hand on his shoulder. "I-I just don't feel like I can handle being here anymore. I did something terrible to get here, and I just want to escape." He says slightly sobbing as I pull him into a hug. "Noah, you always belong. You got us, but you also got me. You can always count on me. You can talk to me, tell me secrets. Trust me. I'm here." I say into his ear, calming him a bit. We release the hug, and he smiles, this time a real one, and we begin to talk like normal people, and laugh, like normal people.
