Half an hour later, the rest of their parents had arrived with a lot of food for them to enjoy and they had just finished arranging it on the table when Michael cleared his throat and got up.
"I want to say a few words before we indulge in this lovely brunch" he started. After waiting for a moment until everyone was calm, he spoke up again. "The past few days were very emotional for all of us, for different reasons. And as much as I wanted to believe that by listening to Avi and showing him that I accept him, that I'm proud of him everything would be alright, but I forgot something. I forgot you, Mitch and Scott. Because I did not only hurt my own son, I hurt you as well. And I am sorry for doing so. Hopefully you can forgive me."
Mitch and Scott listened to this short speech in awe.
"Of course we will forgive you. It takes a lot of courage to admit that you were wrong and to apologise" Mitch explained.
"Mitch is right" Scott added. "You did something wrong, but you admitted it and made it up to Avi, who was the one who suffered the most. So of course I can forgive you."
"Thank you" Michael said. "And... I want to thank you not only for accepting my apology but also for taking care of Avi. He told me quite a lot about your relationship, the dynamics and everything. And I'm glad that you've found one another."
"Thank you, Dad" Avi answered. "It means a lot to me."
The two men exchanged a smile. "You're welcome" Michael concluded. "So... Since we have that cleared now, shall we eat? Because I am hungry."
"I thought you'd never ask!" Mike joked. "I am starving."
"You could've started, Mike, you know?" Michael retorted.
"Yeah, but you sponsored all this goodness and it would've been very rude to just dig in, you know?" Mike shot back.
The triad watched this little banter with huge grins on their faces.
"True, Mike. But now, please dig in" Michael stated.

After a morning full of food, talking and good mood, it was time for the parents to leave. The Hoyings and Grassis had to catch their plane back to Texas and the Kaplans were leaving to drive back to Visalia, joined by Esther who would spend a few days with her parents before she travelled back to Nashville.
Saying goodbye was filled with a lot of warm hugs and promises to visit one another soon.
Since Scott would be driving his and Mitch's parents to the airport, he also kissed his boyfriends goodbye.
"Make use of the massage oil, Mitch loves being pampered like this..." Scott whispered to Avi when they hugged.
Avi nodded. "I was actually planning on it" he whispered back. "And when you're back home, I might treat you to a massage as well, Love."
Scott grinned. "I'd love that." He kissed the bearded man swiftly before he walked out of the house, leaving Mitch and Avi standing on the porch, waving as their families drove off.
Once the cars were out of sight, Mitch sighed softly. "Now we're alone..."
"That we are" Avi replied, smiling softly at his boyfriend as he took his hand and led him back inside the house. "And I have quite the idea what to do with the time we have..."
Mitch raised an eyebrow. "Do tell me."
"I promised you something this morning, didn't I? A massage?" Avi replied and grinned when he saw Mitch's face light up.
"Urgh, yes, please, I've been wanting to book myself a massage for a while now but never found the time..." Mitch pointed out.
Avi chuckled. "Well I am not a certified professional, but I'll do my very best."
